concealed choices

If I am carrying a compact , I like the feel of a Glock 27 with a model 23 mag with a collar, this gives me the full grip. If I want to go to a lighter auto , I'll carry my vintage FI Model D 380, a Colt Mustang clone from the 70's.

I usually carry something small, like a S&W J airweight rated for +p or a NAA 32 auto. I have big pieces, 3 45 ACP's, but most days, I go to reasonably safe place, keep a watchful eye, and just drop something small and light in my front pants pocket. I seldom worry with a belt or shoulder holster, they all "print". In my pocket, just a cloth pocket holster, nothing too expensive or fancy. I tried ankle rigs years ago as a police officer, never felt right and if worn on inside of leg, I bumped my ankle on the off leg, so for 9 yrs as a cop, I just carried a J frame in my front pocket as a backup and as an off duty. Then it was a Mod.60 with the hammer spur polished off by a skilled gunsmith. Now in my late 50's, light weight is an issue for many reasons, especially to keep my pants up.

My main carry is a Kimber Tactical Pro II in a Simply Rugged open top Tribute. If I need lighter I borrow the wife's Taurus 650SS.

I have XL hands and get a full grip on the Kimber Ultra.

IMO, S&W did just that with this:

As easily to conceal as a J frame with better sights, a better trigger, and 110% more firepower.

I don't do pocket carry, so the J frame has no advantages for me.

Have you actually carried your M1911? I regularly carry a full sized Norinco M1911. In normal street clothes, I have no trouble carrying it at all. I carry IWB in a Don Hume clip-on.

Here's my EDC with an OWB holster from EPS, and an extra 6 in the HKS speedloader. It's a Colt Cobra and it holds six and weights 21 ozs loaded. In the summer I carry it in a pocket holster. Grips are Badger Boot Grips.

Also, the old 1903 model ACP in 32 or 380 both carry very nicely.

My vote goes for all of those! And the old Colts fit nicely in larger hands and they are easy to point shoot!

Some have already mentioned an alloy framed commander 1911. I'll add a Sig C3 1911 or a Kimber Compact, they're both commander length slides with alloy officer length grip frames. The shorter grip frame aids concealibility by a great deal. I'm able to get my whole hand around the grip on an officer without having my pinky finger dangling. Another gun that I carry quite a bit is a Sig 239. It has an alloy frame and it's slim single stack profile makes it easy to carry.

I recently picked up a Kahr P45, 19 oz. I can only say WOW, it is one fine carry gun. since I shoot primarily revolvers the trigger was wonderful from the first shot. Recoil is nothing compared to my 325PD.

I have small hands and the 3914 fits me great. CC is easy and the 3914 is a solid performer and very accurate in close range.

I like the S&W 1911PD, which is very similar to the lightweight commander, also the Kahr K9, and just about any J-frame.

Dan Wesson CBOB if you can find one. Only available in CA for 2010.

Glock 19 and crossbreed super tuck holster works excellent for me. I have looked at the ruger tcr? I don't like where they put the mag release on most of the smaller .38 super compacts. Don't even want to think about accidently releasing the mag when I need it most!

I'm loving my 6906, although as soon as my holster arrives my new M&P40 will be going lots of places :D
