with this rifle it seem to be hit or miss with all the problems.

but if you have a issue S&W will send a call tag and fix it and send it back on there dime. yes it sucks to buy something new and it dont work then wait to get it fixed.

Having had decided to buy the M&P 15-22, I was a bit concerned, at first. It seemed that people were having the same FTE issues. However, I realized that for every one negative review there had to 100s if not 1000s of silent and pleased 15-22 owners.

I picked up my 15-22 on 4.23.10 and could not be more satisfied with my purchase decision. I have not taken anything else to the shooting range since I got it. :D

buy it and dont look back.. if it doesnt run then s&w will fix it on their dime.. remember alot of people get on here just to post problems they r having thats the reason for a forum.. of the many 1000s of rifles sold im sure it looks worse on here than it really is

I felt the same as you but decided to take the plunge and never looked back.

this has always been my opinion. often times, most happy customers have no need to "log on" and rant. however unhappy customers have multiple needs - find information, get quick fixes and share their struggles with others.

I agree w/ most of what you said. No one likes to buy a product that does not work as advertised. The real problem is how the customer is treated with his/her warranty claim.

S&W has not performed admirably w/ the repairs. I think that they are swamped and that is causing the problem. Of course, no one knows for sure. The average customer, after spending $400, would like a working product and if it does not work as advertised, they are justifiably unhappy . Some of the customers have had real problems w/ customer service and a few have had to send the rifle back more than once. In fairness, I've heard less and less of that.

These rifles are mass produced items and work only as well as anything else made that way. There have been recalls on cars, baby cribs, electric fence transformers, tires, and most everything else so this is not all that unusual.

How it is handled at the warranty level tells you how good a company is.

A friend bought one and could not get it to cycle properly. He was using Remington golden. I gave him some of my CCI ammo and his problems went away. Quality .22 ammo I think would solve some of the problems. CCI minimags 40gr. He let me shoot it a few times. Seems like a well made product.

Time to run a poll. --- See 15-22 Owners poll.

Get the gun. You will love it. Almost 2000 rnds through mine with maybe two FTEs. I have been using Bulk Federal I bought at Cabellas.

I bought mine before finding and reading the forum here. Mine was an older serial number gun and ive had no issue what so ever with mine.
I just found the forum as i do that for every "fun" gun i own so i know how to fix it up and personalize it and how to fix issues without sending it in for repairs.

I absolutely love my 15-22:). I had some FTE issues with mine. Made some ejector adjustments, now it performs flawlessly. I would recommend it to my own brother.............in fact, I did.

I had been reading this forum for some time before picking up my 15-22 and although there was plenty of chatter regarding feeding/ejecting problems and flying gun parts, I had no doubts about buying this firearm.
I figured that it would either run smoothly or it would spend a week or so with the S&W folks and then run smoothly... either way I wind up with a pretty cool gun for my money. So far it's been working perfectly without any trips to "Santa's work shop"... and if that should change.. well FedEx is just around the corner :)

Highly recommended!

just got get the rifle. I have just over 4000 rounds through mine. Eats any .22LR ammo I can feed it like candy too. Go get the rifle you will love it!

Squirrels "high-tail it" at the sight of my 15-22. I have never had a single failure with mine. I have about 1400 rounds through it now. I bought it about a month ago, it is the one with the A1 flash suppressor on it, and blue springs and the antirotation extractor. I put 3.5 pound JP yellow fire control group springs in it.

I even ran 500 Rem Goldens through it, no problem. So, the rifle is capable of fine service. I have a scope and it is zeroed at 100 yards. My birds get to eat in peace with not a tree-rat in sight.

Buy one and don't look back. You'll be glad you did. On the outside chance you have a problem, S&W will promptly get it taken care of. This rifle is FUN! Get it!
