The "champion golfer of the year". 42 years old, lost his wife to breast cancer 5 years ago, and worked to find his game again and climb back on top. Today, he personified the late Jim Valvano's quote, "Don't Give Up . . . Don't Ever Give Up." Clarke earned it today.

The quote could also apply to runner-up Phil Mickelson. His wife also was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago, and he supported her admirably, as he should. The guy is just flat-out fun to watch, and if not for some ill-timed bogeys on the back nine today, he could very well have won the tournament.

And today's other runner-up American challenger, Dustin Johnson, fell back after a poor swing sent a ball OB. That shot seemed to deflate the momentum he was building. He hits it a mile, putts well, and is even-tempered. Hopefully, he'll learn from his mistakes, and his day will come.

He played great, but what was with ESPN and the coverage? That was about the worst video coverage of any sport I've ever seen. 90% of the time the image was off register so much all you saw were the heads of the golfers and the sky. I seldom saw a ball on the green. Even most of the commercials were off register.

I have Comcast, was everyone else having the same problem?
