I have a memory problem--I remember paying around $125 each for a new 6" Model 28 and a 5" 38/44. But that was so long ago that had I instead put the money into equities, I would have earned enough over the years to pay the prices you did. If you live long enough you will feel as smug as I do--and if you don't, you will probably get more satisfaction out of those weapons then looking at a brokerage statement.

I look at the brokerage statements frequently, still was a hit to the wallet to drop the money. But, I figured If I just bought one, I'd miss the opportunity to get the others down the road. I'll make more money, they don't make these anymore. It helped that the wife saw it as an opportunity to enhance my collection too. Guns are usually a horrible investment but, by the time they get sold again, I'll be gone and I hope my kids get top dollar for what they are worth at the time. In the mean time I'll enjoy them for the next 25 or 30 years, maybe a little longer if I get past 80.
