well, 1/3 of it :), still keeping the internet and phone portion. Video is gone, replaced with DirectTVNow, internet based not the satellite on the roof thingy.
The bill is cut by some $70+ per month. I have all the channels I need, not 1200 channels of duplicates and things I’d never watch, such as golf :p.

Good for you. Some of the 'filler' programs baffle me. One is: "Do you Poop Enough?". There is a nightly show dedicated solely to lip syncing.

Once I figure out my sports package options I may be right behind you.

It takes awhile, we looked at all the options such as YouTubeTV, but DTVNow had all we need, for now. They have 4 packages, we started with the basic one on a trial basis and until we get it all figured out will stay put.
I may have to upgrade later to add some sports programming.
I also locked in my internet and phone price for 100 years, that should suffice. :)

We have been considering the same thing. Cable bill keeps going up. Umpteen million channels you pay for and 10 worth watching...barely. Wife watches a lot but the same channels all the time, if it wasn't for her watching it I would just get over the air channels and be done with it.

We got rid of Direct TV about a year ago and went with Playstation Vue. Had to purchase around $400 of equipment - wifi network enhancer, Amazon Fire Sticks for older TVs, open air HD antennas - but now we're paying $50 vs. $145 a month and couldn't be happier. Also got rid of our landline a few years ago and rely on cellphones.

We got rid of our house phone and cable/satellite about 3 years ago. I have a ROCU sticks that costs about $40 initially. Now we pay $70 for internet, $25 for sling TV, and $13 for Netflix. Sling gives us all the shows we like and what we don’t get on there we get on Netflix and Hulu. My sister pays for HULU so we share Netflix and Hulu. The wife also has amazon prime that I watch a lot of shows and movies on also. And we have an HD antenna for local news too. If you have decent internet connection then Sling is the way to go. I DVR every everything anyway and can watch everything on our IPads or on the television screens. There is no way I would go back to Direct TV or cable now.

Dropped phone and cable tv about 2 months ago. Using Roku devices on the TV sets and have DirectTV Now (not associated with satellite DTV). DTVNow has all my local channels and the specialty channels I enjoy. We already have Amazon Prime plus Hulu (thru our cell provider).
Currently saving over $1500 a year over what we were paying Comcast. We'll recover the equipment costs in just under six months.

I've been with Comcast and its predecessors since they first came to this town, originally for picture quality and more choices. My cousin worked for them and explained to me how to take the ground wire off the chassis and then watch every channel available free, which lasted until they went digital, I miss those analog days.
After I retired the prices kept creeping upward, I went into their office and told them I was going to try something else if they didn't give me the same deal they give a new sign-up customer. They did but wanted me to sign a yearly agreement, easy enough. Since then every year on our T.V. anniversary I walk into the office , give them my spiel and get my reduction. Last October (T.V.A.) the young man told me that sooner or later I was going to have to pay the full price. I politely told him that when that day comes I will truthfully leave and do what at least 50% of the people I know do and get everything streaming.
First I have to break down and get a cell-phone.

In my area at least - The Dish Network absolutely SUCKS! Every time it would rain or snow or we had heavy wind I'd loose reception - been there done that - NEVER AGAIN!!

I negotiated the best deal I could for Altice 1 (Optimum) and got the 400 speed internet with phone and all the channels they offered. Got a descent deal (well, as best as I could) and at least I have no reception issues. I actually got a better deal taking all the channels than if I only selected a few. No contract to sign and their service makes ALL or any TV a "smart TV" - plus the DVR records much more than the Verizon version did. The internet speed of 400 makes my computer lightening fast and never an issues with streaming Netflix, Amazon or Hulu. While it's still costing me some bucks, I am saving $70 bucks a month over Verizon.

With 5 TV's hooked up I pay just over $200/mo. Not cheap but at least I have no complaints about the service. If something breaks they are on it the same or next day.

I hope you have better luck with the Dish than I did - I would never recommend them to anyone I liked - lol! :D

Yes, DirectTV and DirectTVNow are two different animals, no comparison. And local channels are included.

Comcast - I have it, it a love-hate relationship, what else can I say!
They recently came out with Cell Service.
It’s Verizon and out West and lots of other places, it’s the best and the most expensive.
Comcast provides Verizon Cell Service at no additional cost , but charge for data.
So I just keep data turned off.
Get unlimited calls and Texts And get charged a tax, about $3 a month,

I cut the cord on cable and internet about six years ago. I have just been using an antenna picking up what local channels I can get.

I would like to have something more but internet is stupid expensive here and we have so many storms that satellite goes out a lot.

I have been cord cutting. A year ago a local company brought fiber internet down our road. Before that I had satellite internet and dish network tv. I have to have a land line because cell phones barely work here. So my internet dropped $10 a month. My landline was $50 a month for no long distance, now I have it through my internet for $30 a month with long distance.
I bought a Roku stick about 3 weeks ago and canceled Dish. I got youtubetv. It has my local channels except PBS. Some of the shows are available on regular youtube. I don't have any outdoor channels but most of the outdoor shows are available on regular youtube. It has pretty much all the sports channels so I can watch all the races although I don't really care about most of the other sports they have on.
The youtube tv is $40 instead of the $90 I was paying for Dish. So overall I am saving about $80 a month.
My only concern is right now the internet tv packages are cheap I think to get people hooked on them and after enough people are on them they will jack the price up to match satellite or cable. Most of these packages are owned by satellite or cable company's.

I'm down to just internet at the house, and that is going away next month. That will leave me with just a smartphone and tablet on cell service. Too many other things I enjoy doing and too much stuff that has to be done to waste my days sitting around looking at a screen. That's my conclusion.

I was advised that I really didn’t cut the cord but traded one cord for another. :o
At least the new cord is less expensive. :)
