coronavirus

Is this the same guy who refused to allow doctors to prescribe Chloroquine to Wu Flu patients? Shouldn't he leave that medical decision to the doctors as well?

He's likely the most unpopular man in the US right now because he tells it as he sees it as a scientist. He's not interested in what's good for the economy or stroking any politician's wish to seem in control.

For second least popular I nominate Nevada's governor, Steve Sisolak. Tonight he was asked when the current restrictions would go away and businesses reopen. His reply was a classic.

"That's a decision to be made between the medical experts and the virus".

Not what anybody wants to hear (and slightly odd English, unless I misheard), but I suspect it is 100% accurate.

No, and contrary to the narrative being pushed by the MSM

"In the past 24 hours, Dr. Anthony Fauci has said there is no foundational difference between himself and President Trump in how to deal with the government's response to COVID-19, that the president has never over-ruled his recommendations, that he wished the media would stop trying to pit him against the president and, now, we learn that he would prescribe hydroxychloroquine to a patient if he were treating them for coronavirus."

According to this article
Fauci Would Prescribe Chloroquine to Patient Suffering From COVID-19

Nope. Governor Sisolak was responding to a question regarding opening businesses. His point was that the virus is driving the agenda, and how much it is driving it can only be determined by the medical experts in this state. Bluntly, he is saying that anybody who thinks we have total control over the situation is delusional. Until science tells us how well (or not) the shutdown and social distancing have worked.

Some theories on the end game may be read here.

Most of this is being blown way out of proportion. While COVID-19 is serious, it's not the black plague.

From 1 Oct 2019 to 1 Feb 2020 there were over 12,000 deaths in the US from the flu. As of yesterday, there were 16 deaths from COVID-19. World wide there have been about 93,000 cases and of those 50,000 have already recovered.

Seriously folks, the common flu is far more virulent and deadly. There is no need to panic. We should be smart, but we should be doing that on a daily basis anyway.

Total US fatalities 3,833, up 687 from yesterday. That's from starting from 0 one month ago.

"Seriously folks, the common flu is far more virulent and deadly."

Sure about that?

I think that might have been the Michigan governor, who banned it and threatened to pull the licenses of any physicians who prescribed it.

-Then, FOUR DAYS later, asked the Feds to send a bunch so people could be treated with it.

Good job. Keep "resisting" that's what's really important.

All we need is a little hair of the dog!

WuFlu bat stew, anyone? :D

You're in the hardest hit demographic, so you're scared. We get it. Can't say I blame you.

But in a month you are going to feel so foolish for being duped by this whole media fueled hysteria. As will about half of the world who placed their trust and confidence in the hype by the MSM and WHO.

IT IS A FLU. Maybe a little more virulent and maybe a little more dangerous and therefore it comes with a little higher mortality rate than the average strain. Maybe. But it isn't the apocalypse and it isn't going to turn into the apocalypse.

As sad as it is that a few thousand have died from this, it is no worse than the thousands that die from other causes every day. It has just been hyped to Biblical proportions.

The bigger tragedy is the massive impact all the panic has had on the world economy. A thriving economy lifts people out of poverty and suffering. I still believe the damage done to the economies of the world by this fake panic will cause more suffering and death around the world than this new strain of flu ever will.

Wrong much?

Wrong much?
Gloat much? Over other people's suffering no less.

It ain't over yet. It still remains to be seen if this kills more people than other flu strains. Though it is looking like it probably will. Admittedly It is killing people at a faster rate.

How much economic devastation and suffering results still remains to be seen as well.

The fat lady ain't sung yet.

Not over others suffering. More like people who call others foolish for their well founded concerns and poo hooing something serious.

I wish I would have been wrong, but the evidence was pretty clear for anyone willing to open their eyes.

Ok, enough back and forth. I have been wrong plenty in my life.

To every one here whose skin I have got under.

Sorry.

I think at this pointt everyone agrees that the whole thing is not good. Could have beeen handled better ettc. Like I say about every ob I do I will know exactly what I should have done once its over.

Got about 3" of snow yesterday, temp was 8 above this morning and until I finish installing the gas furnace in the shop thats out when its that cold out and th wood pile is buried in snow. Laying around reading a the book Adrift about a guy who spend 76 days floating round the Atlantic trying to stay alive. Makes my cabin fever minor.

Until about 14 days ago there were no cases in my county in SW Washington. Then there were 2, then 5, then 9, now 18. This progression is typical. I expect we will total 50 or more in another two weeks. I thank God I am not in a dense population area. Any big city can become like New Orleans or Detroit when people ignore the warnings. By the time you get the first positive test result, you can bet there are more asymptomatic cases infecting dozens more people. And they infect hundreds.

This is not drill. This is real. Just today I talked with a neighbor whose cousin has it.
