coronavirus

Just curious. How's that plan from last week working out for you?

Other than the gym's closed, still the same routine. Running my 3 miles on the road now. In fact, going shooting this afternoon after I get the state inspection done on my horse trailer.

All this fake outrage and social paralysis about a disease that causes a fever and dry cough for a week for 99.9% of those who get it, yet none of you were/are worried about the flu, which infects and kills more people every year. Sorry, but I think this is all a gross overreaction. At some point you guys are going to have to stop hiding under your beds or in your closets and get back to living your lives.

Proverbs 16:18 English Standard Version (ESV)

Pride goes before destruction,
and a haughty spirit before a fall.

This verse is what I'm thinking while "hiding under my bed" while taking the advice of medical professionals who know a lot more about this virus than I do.. or you either for that matter. So instead, I'll take my chances on going this route to insure I actually have a life left to live when this mess is over with. Besides, it's kinda peaceful under the bed but not so much in the closet. :)

Trump's DHS declares Gun Shops Essential…yea!

Trump Admin: Gun Makers, Retailers Essential Businesses Nationwide

President Trump's Department of Homeland Security released updated guidelines naming gun manufacturers and retailers as essential on Saturday, which means they are to stay open and operational nationwide during a Chinese coronavirus shutdown.

The DHS guidelines list as essential:

Workers supporting the manufacturing of safety equipment and uniforms for law enforcement, public safety personnel, and first responders.
Workers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges.
The Second Amendment Foundation's Alan Gottlieb commented on the DHS declaration, saying, "Every freedom loving American owes President Trump and his administration a very big thank you for protecting our Second Amendment Rights. This is another Trump promise made and promise kept."

The DHS declaration comes just days after Governor Phil Murphy (D) laughed in the face of a man who expressed concern that the statewide shutdown in New Jersey had put an end to gun sales, thereby eliminating the ability to get a firearm for self-defense.

Breitbart News reported the concerned man asking Murphy, "If less guns reduce crime, will you give up your personal bodyguards?"

Murphy responded by intimating that he and the citizen had a philosophical difference in the role guns play, with the governor believing "a safer society has fewer guns, not more guns. And the guns that do exist are in the hands of the right people — particularly trained members of law enforcement."

The governor then giggled, referenced an armed law enforcement member next to him, and said, "It is what it is."

Unfortunately, it isn't mandatory...
This list is advisory in nature. It is not, nor should it be considered, a federal directive or standard. Additionally, this advisory list is not intended to be the exclusive list of critical infrastructure sectors, workers, and functions that should continue during the COVID-19 response across all jurisdictions. Individual jurisdictions should add or subtract essential workforce categories based on their own requirements and discretion.

Well, down here in Louisiana it looks like Covid19 is getting some folks. Today they announced that one of the Governor's staffers, a 33 year old lady with disabilities, died from complications from Covid19. And if you are a football fan, you might remember Bobby Hebert Jr. from the 90's being the Saints QB. Well, he lost his father to Covid19. Bobby Hebert Sr. was 81 at the time of his death.

The actual statement by the President that I saw and heard was
"I'd love to have the country opened up and raring to go by Easter"

He followed that up with

"I guess by Monday or Tuesday, it's about two weeks. We will assess at that time and give it more time if we need a little more time. We have to open this country up."

Did he actually say something else?

I know I'd also LIKE to see things getting back to normal by Easter, just like the President. But I'm not saying it will. Any more than he did.

Unless you saw a different press conference than the one I watched...

Over 500 deaths in the US yesterday and lots more to come. When is the last time the flu killed 500 people in one day. Your 99.9% deal shows how little you know. It kills around 2% and some of the survivors will never be the same. Permanent brain, lung and other organ damage. Pretty sever for nothing but a fever and dry cough for those people.

Wrong much

PS. Yes, we all know the flu kills a lot of people. So, your point is, that because the flu kills a lot of people we should just stand by and let another virus kill thousands more that are preventable???? Using that kind of logic, why did we get excited over Polio, Small pox, scarlet fever etc? Thousands were going to die of something else anyway. Le er rip!

The Chinese Virus

Another interesting Thread.

My take on all this is to stay away from People,
Wash your Hands, and just have a Situational Awareness
to what's going on around you.

Different Blood Types seem to be affected differently.
"O"Neg seems to be the LEAST affected. I've seen
very little about this.

In closing, I hope we and the World hold China
totally Responsible for what has happened, some
how Monetarily and with Huge Sanctions.

Remember: Tough Times End, Tough/Wise Men and
Women don't

Best to you all, and be Safe out there.

Call me crazy, but I strongly suspect that this virus has been here for longer than we know. I also would be willing to bet that a lot of us have probably already had it and never knew that's what it was because we chalked it up to a cold or allergies.
I've been saying this since day 1.
It may have been here for 2 or 3 months and there may be hundres of thousands or even millions who have already had it and recovered.
I had the worst runny nose of my life 3 weeks ago, with a fever, and it turned into a phlegmy cough. Was it a cold? Or was it Corona? Unless I get tested for the antibodies we'll never know.
That is the piece that is still missing. We don't have the faintest clue how many have had it and recovered, so we really don't know just how bad really it is - or isn't.
All we know is it is an only recently discovered viral respiratory infection that has potential to be fatal, especially to the elderly and immune compromised - which is also true of nearly every viral respiratory infection known to man.

Dr Fauci awaits anyone's help.

He's likely the most unpopular man in the US right now because he tells it as he sees it as a scientist. He's not interested in what's good for the economy or stroking any politician's wish to seem in control.

For second least popular I nominate Nevada's governor, Steve Sisolak. Tonight he was asked when the current restrictions would go away and businesses reopen. His reply was a classic.

"That's a decision to be made between the medical experts and the virus".

Not what anybody wants to hear (and slightly odd English, unless I misheard), but I suspect it is 100% accurate.
