S-series Model 58....did they all come with diamond PC Magna grips...or did some come with non-diamond PC Magna grips?

Thanks.

58 grips

I have seen some of the later S serial numbered Model 58's (upper S200-300,000) range after 1968 with non diamond grips which were correctly numbered to the gun. The medallion washers should be black, not silver to be correct, and should be numbered to the gun.

My 58 is in that range....just bought a set of non-diamond PC grips w/black washers for it.

They will have to do. :)

Thanks!

Interesting!

I bought an S-series with N diamond targets. I bought it from the son of the original owner. He was certain that the grips were original.

I guess you just never know sometimes....

For what it is worth, I've owned sets of N frame PC diamond magnas numbered in the 259000 and 312000 ranges.

I received a set just like that from forum member VM today and put them on my Model 58!

I've owned this gun for years and this is the first time it's had the correct grips on it.

I suppose I'll never really know what it left the factory with, but that's OK. :)

My 1973 model 58 just got new shoes today....I bought a pair of non-diamond N frame PC magna's at a local gun show; they are in excellent condition so I didn't mind paying the sellers asking price of an incredibly high $20! ;)

The same man had several other N frame stocks including medallion & non-medallion service, smooth targets and two pair of pre-war magna's.
