Hello everyone, longtime member - smalltime contributor here that has a few questions.

My dad passed away earlier this year and I'm cleaning out his gun closet and I found some S&W branded or manufactured plastic 12GA shotshells - box is the traditional S&W blue and white.

I also found some 10 round packages of S&W 30.06 in plastic 10 packs - just like you'd buy a thing of BIC pens! They still have the price tags from woolworths on them!

Does anyone know what the approximate value of these are? Due to age I would not shoot these but a collector asked me if I would part with them so I figured this would be the best place to ask!

Thanks!

I'm sorry about your dad.

A full box of S&W shotgun shell might be worth $10-$20 to the right person. The .30-06 packs are probably worth about the same. They're most likely from the 1970's. Shipping is a bit if an issue (ORN-D), so a local sale is probably your best option.

I'd put a box of each away, but I'm like that.

ORM-D - I know what that is and I've found out that its actually not a big deal to ship ammo. The internet makes it out to be a long ordeal, but in reality its just slapping a sticker on the outside.

Thanks for the info, I'd rather not keep "wallhanger" ammo around so I'll probably sell it.

The ammunition should be perfectly safe to fire if it has not been improperly stored.

It's neat - but not overly valuable

I'd bet what you have came from the Alton IL plant.

They way I recall the history goes soething like this...

Originally the plant produced Al-Can ammo.

Then Fiocchi bought into it for and their ammo came in red and blue
boxes.

S&W came along just a year or so later and joined Fiocchi. For awhile they kept the red and blue boxes and the Fiocchi name.

Then Fiocchi was bought out of the agreement and the ammo was produced under the S&W name only. At that time the boxes were either white with blue lettering or blue with white lettering.

I have some of each of the above along with lots of other S&W ammo. I've only paid dearly for one item - but it makes a great display!

It's more involved than slapping the sticker on the side.

You better be POSITIVE you are shipping to a locale that has no restriction on ammo, or someone under age. You can't just ship ammo to any City in any State.... send some to NYC and let me know how that works out.
