Couple of custom blades...

The larger is an outright copy of the famous Randall Model 1, right down to the dip in the blade spine, which I dislike.

Gary Randall can make that design with a Model 5 blade blank and avoid the dip, if you like. The blades are otherwise about identical, but you have to ask them to sharpen the false edge, if you order a Model 5.

However, the sharp clip makes these knives illegal in many jurisdictions. If your knife has the upper bevel sharp, like on the Randall, it is legally a Bowie knife in my state, and banned for public carry.

Knives carried officially by soldiers or police are exempt from the banned knife law, I think. The Randall Model 1 and similar designs are quite popular among the military.

Your knife seems very well made, maybe a better blade polish than on Randalls. But the handle looks a bit short. What's the blade length?

The DeLeon knife is also probably illegal for carry off of your own land. He is a well known maker, in business for many years. Nothing fancy, but very good, basic, handmade knives.

I love knives almost as much as I love guns! (Don't go there - I know what you're thinking!) Those are NICE!

I don't have Randall expertise so we'll let that go but I can tell you right now that any knife that I have that has an edge on the spine is illegal in Texas. Why double edged knives are illegal I have no idea.

Even more weird - there is no definition of a Bowie knife in the Penal Code - so any large knife qualifies and they're illegal to carry around, too.

I have such knives at home, a couple of gorgeous ones - they stay home. I have a number of small bladed, custom knives - now you have inspired me to add photos to my knife album. :)

IMO, neither a Randall #1 nor any of the zillion knock offs are Bowies. Their historical association is to the US military, including some prominent WW II brass, not the Alamo.

I have that same Deleon, maybe an inch longer. Sweet little knife.
One of three of his that I own.
He left us last June & will be missed. Was a great guy.

You would be more likely find me packin a left
handed Hockey stick instead of a big azz Bowie.
The Deleon is a 4 inch blade...legal I think.
The Voorhis is a 8 3/4 blade...13 3/4 overall.

Xfuzz, I agree with you about packing a Bowie. I have a Bagwell Bowie, 11.25" blade for sale in the classifieds. Prefer to have a 1911 in a knife fight.
