After the laughter , had to add my 2 cents . You don't expect them in Florida , well maybe North Florida . We have a paved path , sooner or later to run across Fl. I was walking one of dogs mid-day when I saw what I thought was a dog coming out of the woods . Then behind came a smaller one , the female . Then it hit me , coyotes . I guess they really are in all the Lower 48 .

Amusing thread, but that isn't very funny. Sorry about old kitty.
They carried off our 13 year old barn cat last month.

Yotes are on our property quite a bit. There are too many of them in some places.
Yup, if you have a small pet do keep an eye out.

Coyotes have gotten several cats and small dogs in the K.C. area. One woman pulled her dog out of the coyote's mouth. It had the dog by the back leg. It's taken the city people a long time to admit what's happening, now most of them bring their pets in for the night.

Living on the Outer edge of the Metro Columbus Area, I see signs for missing pets all the time! When an ambulance goes by, you hear the different pack call.

My brother has a horse farm up the road. "The ambulance test" has revealed 5 packs within hearing distance of his place.

Most any morning, walk in the horse barns and find cats sleeping in the rafters. He had a barn cat make it 23 years, when one that old doesn't show up for dinner, you figure, she had a heart attack while hunting mice!

Upstate NY. Suburban area with some surrounding rural, lots of folks moving from non-rural locations. A lot of missing pet posters.

We have red and gray fox in addition to coyote.

I can't get into coyote hunting m'self. Too similar to dogs, and I like dogs. Which, yes, given the number of dogs coyotes eat, is somewhat illogical.

I guess they really are in all the Lower 48.

They're in every state in the union. Except maybe for Hawaii, I guess. We have country/rural coyotes, urban coyotes, and city coyotes. Coyotes are probably the most hated animal in America.

They've been here for centuries, and they always seem to be one step ahead of us, no matter how many are killed. They aren't going away.
