Coyotes have moved in.

In San Antonio, we have both two- and four-legged varieties of coyotes. The four-legged ones have recently shown up in my neighborhood (near the airport), and I have seen two of them (or maybe the same one twice) at night running through my front yard. Neighbors are now reporting missing cats, and one of our friends found some body parts of her cat, a Siamese, last week. Prior to about six months ago, I don't remember hearing of any nearby coyote presence. Texas has some program where they drop food pellets with rabies vaccine by air in certain areas to control coyote rabies.

Since I no longer have a dog, if I saw coyotes in the neighborhood, I would try to teach them how to play Frisbee fetch. :)

My suburb has Coyote Hazing Guidelines for people who don't want them around.

Several FB friends have posted game camera photos of coyotes in their back yards. There are plenty of them all over, but they are very smart. You never see them in daylight. They nearly never get hit along the highway, unlike whitetail deer and just about every other animal in PA. I'm waiting to see evidence of them around my home, as there are rabbits out the wazoo.
I think my cocker/border collie may have put one on the run about a week ago. She went berserk when put her on the potty lead, growling and making a royal ruckus.

I too am in western PA, and have no rabbits or pheasants. The small flock of turkeys is also MIA. I have seen them at night, and often hear them yodeling. When my health improves, I intend to get out there and thin down the pack!
