Crazy jump in prices right...

Mass panic explains the price jump. People are panicked about COVID-19 and are buying, at inflated prices, all the hand sanitizer, guns, ammo, and toilet paper they can find.

My LGS has not raised prices unless the supplier has raised to him. He keeps the same margin as previously.

I expect some used guns hitting the market soon after the lifting of the stay at home recommendations. The question I have is where are these guns going to be sold. Pawn shops, LGS or somewhere else? I don't think the new, temporary owners will be aware of armlist or other similar sites.

I'm also good to go with guns, ammo and mags.....however this thread reminded me of back when Obama was voted in and the threats about eliminating any high capacity mags were a reality. I purchased another full size M&P with the high capacity mags, just in case.....that was 10 years ago. I paid $529 for it back then, and it's still never fired and new in the box. I still think it was worth spending the money on a tool that will someday be enjoyed by my Grandson. Just sayin is all.

In response to post #24, I think most of those people are going to be returning their guns to the same store they bought it from and likely accepting whatever the shop offers them. Some because they just don't know where else to sell it and some because they live in a state that is so restrictive there's just no real alternative.

Just a random thought as I read this post, I wonder if a percentage of the first timers will get a chance to shoot the gun they bought and really enjoy it ? Could there be some some contagion from there? If they buy one shoot it and share their experience with another non gun owner, could be a good thing for all gun owners.

what did he mean ??? having all the guns he needs ??? i'm looking forward to buy.buy, in a couple months. fun times, they are a coming again ....

At most the corona virus only lasts a few days on a surface. On many surfaces it's hours. I wouldn't worry about it.

Unless I'm mistaken I think the OP was talking about the contagion of enjoying the shooting sport not the virus.

It would be nice if some of those who bought their first gun because of this scare actually became converts to our side, and even better if they then got others who'd never owned a gun to enter the sport, but I doubt that'll happen in most cases.

I think once this is all over those new gun owners will for the most part either tuck the gun away somewhere and forget it, or sell it, and in either case the odds are good they won't have ever fired it.

Just got home with a M&P 45c 2.0... was technically used (consignment) but I don't believe ever fired... came with 6 mags that had never been loaded.
Paid $500, but with the 6 mags I was ok with it. The store was packed, and people lined up to do paperwork, and they have seating for 3 at a time. Because of my ccw, it took just a few minutes once I got a seat at the table and was out the door.... people were left standing all over the place waiting for the background check. The manager who happened to be the one that had pulled it out to show me, said at least you will get to take it home today (knowing I have a ccw).
So obviously.... lots of delays, poor bastages.

That's the next gun I have my eye on. Right now the only place I found that supposedly has one in stock is Sportsmans and it's $440 there, so I don't think you did bad with the extra mags.

I'm not in a hurry so I'll wait till this present circus dies down. It wouldn't do me much good now with ammo and reloading supplies being so scarce since it will be my first .45, and I have no ammo on hand in that caliber.

I have that gun in 9mm and it's my favorite pistol so I'm sure I'll like the .45 version.

I have a theory, and I have that theory based on someone else's action. Gun shops are getting ready to have their orders filled since they anticipate panic buying in October and November. One of my local gunshops hinted he has a $100k order of ammo right now for the panic buying. I anticipate almost every gun shop in the US has an extensive order for ammo right now. It will remain to be seen just how much people will spend.

November 5th, to be exact.

The recent gun buyers are still learning what magazines are for. You never have too many magazines, and I will buy more, but I, and probably most here, have enough magazines too. You would think that we have been reading this forum for decades.

That's a good point. They probably figure a gun only needs one magazine. Other than my Luger, I have at least ten for each gun. I know that is too many, but I can't help myself. Don't even ask me how much ammo I have, but I need to reinforce my shelves.

Just read my signature. Enough said.
I just bought a LE trade in M&P 45 a couple of days ago. Just waiting on it to get to my FFL.
