Crimson Trace For a J Frame ?

Is this place (CDNN) legit? They seem to have some very low prices! I don't want to get scammed!! I'm hoping to hear from a number of members to verify this.
While it has been a while I have bought from them, up to and including guns.

Big fan for years…

I think laser grips are the sort of thing you need to try for yourself.

I had the LG-405 grip on a 642 for a while, but I found that whenever I fired the gun my dominant pinky finger (which I curl under the butt) would turn the darned thing off. I removed it, sold it, and moved on. They’re just not for me.

I didn’t lose an appreciable sum on the deal, so I consider it a worthwhile experiment.

I recently bought one of the CTG units from CDNN for my 642. As my eyes age with the rest of me I have been having difficulty with shots beyond 15 yards, especially in low light. The dot went where the front sight went at 15 yards and the shot went where the sight went. At 25 yards using the dot the shots went about 4 inches right. The little adjustment wrenches are too large, so I can't get them dialed in closer. Jury's still out for me.

CDNN has never disappointed me.

Have a set on my 640 and have zero issues gripping so it is blocked. Also have them on 2 Colt LW Commanders that I carry when going to “ certain areas”. IMHO its all about training with them so when one needs to use pistol they work. Also I confirm zero every 6 months.

I have them, LG-105’s on my 642. I think they serve a purpose on such short-barreled guns. They really don’t add any bulk. As with all things gun YMMV!

I’ve used them for decades on my carry guns, but they are not the company they once were. I had 3 sets of them for my Kimber Micro 9 that all failed after one range session. Called customer service on the first one and they asked for the info- said “oh, yes we will send you a new set that lot had issues. 2nd set same QA problem,- they refunded my money after a 21 day wait. I got a 3rd set off the shelf at the gun store where I work part time and they work but stop working randomly. Too bad as they are great for folks who’s eye sight is starting to get a bit fuzzy.

Very odd as we have old CT Products on our teaching glass room guns and they. Just run and run no issues.i have a set on one of my J frames that has to be 10 year old and they work flawlessly. I always like them because you didn’t need a custom holster in my cases.

I like them on my Air Lite .22 Mag that I carry around the house in the lower 48 for snakes. I have had a couple of surprises where I didn't have time to aim, and they worked as advertised.

I ordered a set of the LG-105 from CDNN and quickly determined the grip didn't work for me, so the next day I contacted them to start a return. I've ordered from CDNN several times but this is the first time I've tried to return something. I get the impression they don't want to deal with any returns.

I have 4 sets of them, 3 on J frames, the 4th on a Model 66 with the 2.5 inch barrel. I became a CCW instructor in 1996 and assure you there is nothing faster for self defense use. Lasers are only for use at night and in low light situations, which is when you cannot see the sights anyway. They also replace night sites.

The push bottom activation on the grip lets you quickly shoot from the hip or anywhere the gun might be, without even raising the gun. The bullet goes where the dot is.

The last 2 sets I bought from CDNN for $79, a bargain. I have had one set for close to a decade and never changed the battery once. I own other CT products on semi autos and never had a single problem and never had a battery fail. When your battery starts getting weak you notice it and simply replace them but it is years before it is needed.

Lasers are also about the greatest training device there is, the student watches the wobble factor and learn to control the gun and they know when they throw shots. It also solves all of those eye issues like astigmatism.

They also create a situation in which a non gun person can simply pick up a gun and have a good chance of defending themselves. When we hike I always throw in a second gun, a J Frame with a laser, any one in the group could use it if an emergency occurred or if someone was injured and had to stay on the trail while others went for help. Once a group of bad guys attempted no good,
we were the only car in a stranded and dark tourist parking lot. A car blocked us in and guys got out and approached in darkness. I handed the spare to my BIL while I gripped my own and the likely robbers left quickly when they saw it. Later we learned that people were robbed in that exact spot on 2 other occasions. Nothing better than a spare J frame with a laser as a second.

I carried a J frame in law enforcement both as a primary gun and a back up and now as a retiree I simply do not see a reason not to use them on CCW wheel guns. So your question on should you put them on a J Frame is different for me, my question is why would you not?

I have them on two models 637, a model 60 three inch and the model 66 two and a half inch. These guns are often used with snake shot as the first round or two depending on when snakes and I are out at the same time. The 357s are also carried when I hunt and walk out of the woods after dark, we have cougars where I hunt and I once was only about 40 feet from one, so I walk out in the darkness with the gun in one hand a light in the other, the laser is simply the fastest way to deal with any issue in the dark.

Hope that helps. And CDNN is a great company, bought lots of products including guns from them over 40 years. This is their current add. I just put a set on one this last week. Well worth the money to me and a no brainer. They are not pretty but they work. Hope this helps.

Not sure what your comment is about. I have returned a gun to CDNN without a problem. If they do not fit your gun, then they might accept a return. If you just tried them out and then decided you did not like them, no company should take a loss by accepting them back and then having to sell them as used or otherwise take a loss of them.

So, I am curious, did you just decide you did not like them, or did they not fit as described? In retail sales like this, if there is a problem, you go back to the company, Crimson Trace.

Just saying....after 40 years of doing business with them, I would be surprised if they are being unfair to a customer. Most online dealers charge a restocking fee when a customer changes their mind or mistakenly orders the wrong item. Just saying.

Been dealing with them for 40 years, one of the best companies out there for guns and accessories. I recently bought 2 sets of those J frame grips, put one on this week actually. Great price and great deal, see my other comments. These sold out a few months ago and I had to wait for this lower price, otherwise they are 2-3 times more from other outlets. They buy in massive amounts and often have rock bottom deals, but you must act fast, once they are gone, the are gone.

Just to give an idea, here is the current Optics Planet add for similar grips.
