Crown Jewel of My PD Collection

Not a S&W, but does anyone have a PD stamp like this one on my 1917 (I think) cut down Colt Police Positive .38 S&W? Someone once said it might be "Newport PD".

I believe it was issued to the Newark PD

I looked at and handled one yesterday that would have been the beginning of my as yet nonexistent police-marked collection...Being a .38-44 HD fan I was drawn to a pair of nickeled 4" guns under glass, both marked Austin PD, one of which turned out to be a Model 20, the first I had ever seen...I had always heard that less than 100 Model 20's were produced, 50 of which went to APD...

To my untrained eye this one appeared to be authentic, and in very good original condition...I was set to buy this one until he quoted his firm price of $3600 so I guess I'll be looking for awhile......Ben
