CS-9 Perfect CCW Gun

This is my personal CS-9
Nothing fancy and not a whole lot of work on it yet.
I cleaned it well, added a set of steel Novac's to replace the plastic stock sights and a long set of Big Dog Grips.
Excellent to conceal and shoots great also.

I have the CS45 in the SS version, I shot it at the range this weekend, great shooter. I would also like to find and shoot the CS9 but I don't see them listed very often at a reasonable price.

Yes the CS-9 is smaller than the 3913. I do not have a pic but I am sure someone on the forum does.

The CS series suddenly look good.....

I always felt that the CS guns were at a disadvantage with the rubber grips the factory shipped them with. With the forward thinking that went into the grip mods that Big Dog has brought to the table to mount the Delrin grips, these guns have suddenly become real attractive.

They sure are nice. I carried one for about 4 months before switching to a 642. I still carry it every now and then.

Sorry, no pix but just info: The 3913 is 1/2 inch longer and 4.8 oz. heavier than the CS9. It does offer one more round than the CS9 however... 8+1 as opposed to the 7+1 in the CS9. I'll take the CS9. One in the mail to me at this moment!

check your CS9 real good. I was able to use slight thumb pressure to move my original plastic rear sight. if that were to happen, parts will go flying.

I did shoot it with no issues, then got a wild hair and did a make over.

No plastic sights!

SW CQB: Mine came with metal Novac sights. It turns out to be a 2005 manufacture. Don't' know if it was manufactured that way or the previous owner modified it. Thinking about nightsights though... just not sure they are worth all that money!

The CS9 shoots great and was zeroed in when it arrived... I didn't have to do anything but shoot it.

I absolutely agree.I just added Trijicon Night Sights,a DAO conversion,and was the Crash Test Dummy in the developement of the CS9 grips.Grip Set #1 now has all the refinements made since then and the gator treatment.When LEO's at my range see my CS9 the comment is universally the same especially with guys that have small hands and the female officers."If the CS9 I saw had these grips I would have bought one".....God Bless.....Mike

I picked my CS45 up last Thursday,went to the range and put 50 rds through her,real sweet,but she will be even swetter when I get my BigDog grips.
Mine already had night sights on it,can't tell who they were made by but they are held in place by a set screw and they are still very bright.

depends are your mode of carry.

I have set up the majority of my defensive pieces with a front night sight only.

only one tritium vial is cheaper than two or three.

I am not a fan of lining up three dots and prefer a plain dot front, or bar-dot or dot-dot set up.

this is my opinion. if you are carrying in low light, then it would be a viable option.

most encounters happen up close where one might not ever have a chance to line up sights.

there are many pros and cons related to $$$. of course the cheap way to start is luminous paint on your front sight and then you can make the dollar decision after that.

How does the CS9 compare to a M&P 9c? Pics of both together would be cool. I like the looks of the CS9 and the fact that it is all metal too.

That's why I just picked up a CS9... totally MUCH more concealable... and it shoots great too! And it's metal... I'm "old school" and just don't want a plastic gun. All metal is good (in my way of thinking). Plastic is lighter but will kick much more as a result and reliability reports are still "pending" on so many of them. I want a concealable metal gun that I can trust to go bang in a pinch... I think I have one now. I'm a happy camper!

I am very blessed I got my instructor certification in May 09 because I became motivated to research and pick up my first semi auto which was a NIB CS9.At that time A gun dealer bought out all of S+W's new overstock and put them for sale in Gunsamerica.Be patient because they do come up for sale every now and then.BTW I did a little search and find and found a place selling them @ a good price http://www.gunandsport.com/products/pistols/smith+wesson.html ....God Bless......Mike

Bought mine on Gunbroker a week or so ago. I carry it in my front pocket in a DeSantis (just like the Big Dog).

3913 vs CS9

A good number of years ago I had the opportunity to shoot the CS9 and the 3913 one after the other. I found the CS9 to be uncomfortable in my hands and the 3913 was as small as I could go. I now own a 3913. If the gun is going to be carried IWB I don't think the 3913 is any more difficult to conceal especially if carried with some forward cant. I find that a longer grip produces a faster draw with the gun more likely to be properly indexed in the fist. That means that the first shot, especially if taken without a good sight picture is likely to be more accurate.
