Based on the advice of this forum I ordered new recoil spring for my CS9. I ordered from midway using correct part# (again from this forums info) - Below is a picture of the spring I received. It is significantly longer than the old one it is replacing so I was afraid they sent me the wrong one. I double checked the part number on the order and on the packaging and all was correct. I counted the turns on the spring and it is the same - they look identical except for the length. Is it possible the old spring was just completely worn out and the new one is what it is supposed to look like? I installed the new one and it fits with no problem, is not overly compressed or "bottomed out", and seems to cycle fine (by hand, not going to try and fire it until sure).

While I am asking questions - What is the name and part # for the part on the right in this picture? It goes inside the recoil spring and has a plastic tip on the end. I think this is basically the only plastic part on the gun (other than in the magazine) and is something else to have on hand and replace.

If in doubt assemble your gun without the spring . Pull the slide back and mark the farthest rearward movement with a marker slide & frame . Then install the new spring and pull the slide back again . If it stops short of the mark the spring is too long and stacking . Most new springs will be longer than used springs, you did good to count the coils .
