What's the value of a CS40 converted to a CS10? I have no need for 2 10mm 3rd gens. They're lacking on Gunbroker for price comparison.

A machinist at my work. He left me to do the stamping... said "you can't mess it up". he laughed, I learned to practice on something else first. [emoji2369]

Oh and I should mention, it looks better than my thumb.

Is the recoil system proper ?
Was the barrel cut proper?
What was used to weld the original role mark?

All questions I would ask.

To give a fair offer ... I couldent until everything checked out...

Maybe BMCM can chime in...

He's a tool and die guy, I'm not concerned. Already did one for me in the past on a 4013.

10mm auto finish reamer to cut the chamber to spec
Wilson Combat 22# flat spring
Spacer removed from mag
White 10mm follower
Emery cloth to remove roll mark which was stamped very weakly

It is fun to shoot, less recoil than my 1013 but need to thin the herd.

Would my best bet be to take it to a local gunsmith and get it inspected, get a report on it and include that with a sale? I'm pretty rural so local sales aren't common.

Custom guns from "unknown" smiths tend to be dogs to sell.
I wouldn't put much trust in an unknown to me local Gunsmith.... I've known some really good ones and some not so good around here....... which category does the one OK-ing the work fit in?????

Too much risk for too little reward.

Any custom gun I have done I figure I'd better be prepared to keep for life

You guys make the work done sound difficult. The chamber and barrel are already cut, you're just extending the chamber to spec of the 10mm auto instead of the .40 s&w. As long as it's within saami spec, what other issue would there be? I've shot both guns, followers needed some additional sanding to lock back reliably but that was it.

I've had factory produced guns with crappy chambers before. It's pretty easy to tell when they are. But then again, I've only had experience with the 60+ firearms I've owned and a handful of others I've shot.

I will say, the 1013 has more recoil than the CS10 which was surprising but I'm sure more to do with the springs than anything.

Nobody said that it was technically difficult. They said that it had to be done correctly and with precision.

BMCM is a known quality in that regard, at least here.

Well I think the above posters are correct. The thing that is visible on this conversion is the roll mark and it looks poorly done - no offense. And that makes anyone wary of the rest of the work. A buyer would wonder: Did the chamber get made too short or too long or at the wrong angle, are the mags working correctly, is it going to be finicky? And last but not least if there is something really wrong is it dangerous to shoot? I am sure you have every confidence it is perfectly fine. But a buyer doesn't know you or you machinist friend who is not a gunsmith. Someone who knows these conversions really well might be fine with it but then they would probably already have one. GLWS!

I have quite a few wildcat caliber firearms. Luckily, (and important to me,) they are marked by the gunsmiths who did the conversion's/re-chambering's.

I'd be concerned shooting some of them if they didn't have the Ackley or Bellm stamped on them.

Just another reason I voted for Bill to put "his own mark" on some of his work. It adds validity and credibility to any work being done. Perhaps value too?

Just an idea , coming from someone that has one of Bills CS10s' . Make a video of you shooting it , and taking it apart . If you have a go-no go gauge , show you checking it . If the barrel really bothers people , it can be filled in with weld , ground down and redone . There are several people here that have done this themselves , and they would maybe have the same problems . Just post it , add the clip , and see what happens . I'm pretty sure you're going to have to come up with an asking price . Again , don't let this bother you . Looks like even if you've been here a while , you haven't posted much . That will make most people a little hesitant . That is not a bad thing , we've all been there . When I first came here , I had to ask where to find the model# on a revolver .
