CS45 Addition to my Addiction

I love mine. Great gun, easy to carry, smooth shooter. It feels a little strange in your hand at first, almost like it is sticking up too far or top heavy. The great thing is that unlike other smaller carry guns, you won't get bit by the slide. Congratulations, it's a nice pickup.

NICE! That model has been on my wish list for quit a while, I will snag one one day :)

Nice addition, welcome to the addiction channel here @ Smith & Wesson. Just grabbed a CS40 myself but thinking of the 10MM conversion, maybe.
Jackvs1: Hello, what is a SS CS40? They didn't make it in Stainless Steel did they? I know there is a stainless "looking" CS40 but it has an alloy frame, correct?
thanks,
T & B

I think each of the three calibers come in black lowers and either black or stainless slides. I don't know a lot about them. I might be wrong. Also read that these are identical to the LadySmith

I have been looking to track down the little brother of your pistol... CS9. From what I have read - seem to be great guns... let us know how she runs. Good score!

Try keeping your pinky under the magazine when gripping

I shot one a few weeks ago and didn't like it at first. My pinky barely fit, then slipped off every time from the recoil.

I found I liked it very much when gripping it with my pinky underneath the magazine. What a nice little gun.

I hope to run across one like that someday too! Very Nice!

You know you guys got me to thinking when you mentioned the pinky under the grip,.....that's the way I shoot my Ruger Blackhawks. Trigger finger on the trigger, two fingers on the grip and the pinky curled up beneath. Works for me anyways.

A very nice condition stainless slide CS45 just popped up for sale near me, but I think the asking price is high for a gun with just one magazine and no box. :o They are asking $100 more than I paid for my pristine perfect LNIB CS9 at the same LGS. Shop blames the consignment owner for setting the price so high but says it is fair in light of rising prices generally and market demand for a small .45 ACP pistol. :(

I could go either way on this one. Money is very tight right now and I am holding back some waiting for my beloved 4506-1 to appear someday... but this CS45 is pretty nice and could finally complete my CS collection. However, at the asking price, it would become the single most expensive 3rd Gen in my entire collection.

What is a nice stainless CS45 worth with just one magazine and no box? I'd like some forum opinions on this since the GB results look like they are all over the place. :o

Update...

That's a pretty large gap in prices. Hope you find one for your collection!
Looks like an expensive family emergency is suddenly going to put all of my 3rd Gen activity on hold for the foreseeable future. :o Funny how things can change on a dime with just one phone call. :(

Now watch! Dozens of beautiful, cheap 3rd Gens will pop up everywhere all over MA. :o Just my luck.

Same thing usually happens to me. Hope all ends well.

TTSH, wishing you the best
===================

I have never actually seen a black CS model (not counting the grips, of course). I got my CS-45 about 15 years ago; I used to carry it IWB - I was SO happy to have a .45 that I could conceal. When I got rid of my 1911 models the only .45 ACP I kept was that CS-45. I scored 246 or 248 out of 250 with it on my second Texas CHL test about ten years ago.

The pinky thing is always a little bit of a problem but the gun is just so easy to shoot and hit with that I got over the loose pinky a long time ago. I've taken combat classes with it, carried OWB since I got too chunky to carry it IWB, it's still one of my favorite guns.

I see a lot of folks in here. Any idea where I can find a set of replacement springs for my CS45? Thanks
