Powers Boothe has passed away. I really liked his work. I bought every character he was trying to sell.

I'm glad I have a lot of his films on DVD.

I genuinely hate to hear this. Damn. What a loss. And only sixty-eight years of age. Entirely too young to leave us.

I believe I liked him best as the more-than-slightly-psychopathic saloon owner Cy Tolliver in Deadwood. He brought a depth to that character way past what the script probably called for, and the director just let him run with it, I think.

I believe I'll break out my Deadwood DVDs this evening. Or maybe even watch Tombstone.

I hope he rests peacefully in eternity.

He's remembered here in New Mexico for the locally shot Red Dawn.
He was the shotdown F-15 Pilot who helped the Sway's Man and friends go after those Commies.
Patrick Swayze is also remembered here. He bought a ranch and became a part time resident.

First Michael Parks and now Powers Boothe. Great character actors. Hope there is not a third soon. I remember Boothe most clearly playing Curly Bill in "Tombstone." The scene where he shot up the wedding party gave him credibility as a bad guy, and the gun-twirling scene in the bar with Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday (who twirled his tin cup in response) was a classic movie moment.

Saw it when it was first released in theaters. As you say, an interesting plot line, but overall a strange little film I thought. It actually made me think of Deliverance a little bit. A bunch of city boys basically ill equipped (mentally and physically) to deal with an environment and subculture way beyond anything they're familiar with. I don't think it did too well at the box office.
