I am in the middle of a Triple Lock "Lazarus Project". The old gun is at close to 90+% complete with a critical need for the final few parts (see WTB ad) and a Forum member comes to my rescue and offers me a "donor" gun for my most needed parts. He said that he bought it from an estate and a family member said that the gun was customized back in the 1960s. I can not in my heart part this old timer out. She has a smooth action, all numbers match (11665), and the 3.5" barrel was well done. The nickel was not all that good as there are a lot of covered over pits. Did I say that I was a sucker for any S&W 44. Needless to say, she will not be parted out and will go to the range on my next trip out. I now have a number of snub 44 shortys in my wolf pac.

What a great configuration. Bravo for rescuing that one! A fine shooter as is.

Did it originally have a nickel finish from the factory? Is there a B, N or no letter prefix to the serial number in the front end of Extractor shroud? You may need magnification to see and read it.

Those Micro front sights have too much base and too short of a blade. I'd be tempted to mill down the shoulders just a bit.

Been buffed within an inch of its life for the re-plated nickel. And the barrel was shortened from the back and reset, though I don't know why, having the original barrel and cyl in the gun; but the extractor shroud and extractor rod knob are both shortened ~1/16" .

Enjoy!

Glad someone picked that Gun up.I was thinking about buying it a couple of times but could not get over the Micro Sights.Give it a good Home!

Hondo44, there are no marks (B or N) on the frame or barrel, however there is diamond shape stamp (very small) on the right side. It appears to be stamped twice with one being a light strike. My old eyes can make out the mark within the diamond. I can only assume that the gun was nickel when it was shipped. Any thoughts?

How did I miss this post the first time? That TL is absolutely screaming great and from a time when shot--not collected--as E.K. one said. She was subject to "renewal" and became what her owner needed her to be. I am really glad she didn't pass on to the parts bin. I, too, covet!
