https://imageshack.us/i/p70m9wynjimage.jpgI just picked up this beautiful 686 yesterday from a local shop. I was told it was an Andy Cannon job... Either way it has a great feel. Can anyone help point me in the right direction to find out what is done on this 686 (AHY****)

Thank you for any insight

I'm sure it will.. I'm under the impression it's built as a bowling pin gun..?

I would really like to find out if it is truly a Andy Cannon

I agree as well, I have not yet taken it apart to see if it has a roller job inside.. It feels really good though, I hope this gun will make me look good :) after reading a bit, should I only shoot wadcutters out of this gun??

Boy that says 1980's for sure. I had several PPC guns back in the day. I LOVE it! Wad cutters is what we shot back in the day. Thanks for bringing back the memories!!!

I had Andy Cannon build quite a few guns back in the day. The man truly was an artist.

Every gun he tuned for me and every gun of his that I've seen had the hammer and trigger hard chromed with the trigger being radiused and a stop soldered on. He also cut the cylinder latch for speedloader clearance.

This just doesn't look like his work to me.

Here is an example of his work on a M24.

My Andy Cannon Model 686

This is the Andy Cannon Model 686 I own (made in 1989). I've seen several other's just like it, some were engraved in a presentation case, but I have never seen a Model 686 configuration like yours, not to say he didn't make them like that.

Does anyone know if the 686 Performance Center Competitor model has a radius trigger?

That's a really Purdy gun! Looks a lot like my 19-6, but mine has 2.5 barrel.

Definitely looks like a PPC gun to me! Is there a maker's name on that rib assembly? My Fred Schmidt gun had an Aristocrat™ rib that had the quick adjust sights, but the adjustment was on the front blade, IIRC. Mine had a short cylinder to fire ONLY wadcutters, but my other guns got target loaded SWCs to make it quicker to line the bullets with the chambers when using a speed loader. Fun times!! ;)

It's definitely a PPC gun but I have no opinion on who built it. They were very common in the 70s on into the early 90s when PPC petered out. New cops just didn't see any relevance to PPC and the street.

You can shoot any ammo that will fit the cylinder in it. The gun is a beast and won't get bent out of shape.
