Custom Giraffe Bone stocks for 3.5" Engraved Pre-27 arrived today!!!

Just had to share photos of the new furniture for this Rudy Marek engraved 3.5" Pre-27.

Had a set of custom giraffe bone stocks made up with medallions and they arrived in today's mail. The fit and finish is nice as you can see.

This custom engraved piece was just screaming for some special stocks and with ivory being tough to get and pricey, the giraffe bone is a nice alternative and think they look amazing!

I look forward to seeing how these age......

Tom, Those are BEAUTIFUL! Love the giraffe on the engraved 357. I have a set of what I think are giraffe on a little carved K-22. I have really come to like the look with blued engraved guns.

I agree with the others, this may be the best alternative yet to the difficult to get ivories. I have a few ivory stocks, but not as many as I had planned on acquiring. Maybe I’ll have to look into this myself.

Not to be nosy, but I was looking into giraffe bone for my Colt 1903 & Nutmeg quoted me $300.
Seemed a trifle steep for such small & simple panels, but I have no foundation for comparison.

The price I paid for the N-Frame Magna giraffe bone stocks shown in the photos were in the $300 range.

Just curious, but why giraffe? Is there something special about their bone that makes it especially appropriate for stocks? Extra dense? More carve-able (like ivory)? Ages nicely? What makes it better than cow bone, or moose, or elk, or any other large ungulate? I figure there has to be some reason besides being more exotic...
