Custom Grip Identification Help Please: Checkered, Thumb-rest, Finger-groove

I picked these up over the weekend at the Michigan Antique Arms Show. They Came off a Python and I was told that they were purchased in the 1960's from a Detroit grip maker.

Sanderson was in Detroit, but they don't look like his work to me. Several people thought they were Herrett's, but I don't think so. The radical finger-grooves remind me of Hogue grips, but I've done a lot of searching and can't find anything similar.

HELP! :D

Mustang? I have seen Mustang grips that looked quite similar, though I don't know if the age would line up...
