Custom Leathersmiths on the Forum

When my son moves back to the U.S. from Germany I’m going to transfer this S&W 442 to him. I made him this IWB holster for it some years back. We are both lefties. Yesterday I decided to try it out. I wore it all day up in the Sierras hanging out with family and nobody noticed it under my black wifebeater tank top. Even I didn’t notice it because it was super comfortable and flat to the body with a slight “cant” positioned a little behind my back. I carved it even though you can’t see it when worn. My son will see it. It was a fun one to make.

Great looking holster, and it doesn’t matter whether anyone sees it or not, it’s the principle that counts.

Here’s a sheath I posted earlier here but this picture is from the owner and I didn’t know what his knife looked like until now. He said it was an early Western brand bowie which were very common in the 70s-80s. In “The Long Riders” both David Carradine and the guy he fought used them. I have one. But I didn’t know the buyer had this great antler handle put on it that matches the sheath so well. I hope the image shows up. I can’t see it now.

Got a couple from Bamabiker, he really adds a nice touch to them. The colors on the one with the 1911 goes great with the spalted maple grips. Request a carved Sig 365 holster done the same way and it’s carried daily. Good thread Kevin, Larry

WB, here’s a picture of the knife outside your fantastic creative sheath.

It's very possible what a member may want is a "standard option" of one or more of the member leather workers. Quite a few of the leather workers have a catalog on line of their options. A link to their catalogs would be very handy.

I hear ya brother...I do woodworking and turn pens....I never take orders for pens I've made...I see someone who I think deserves a specific themed pen and I make it and gift it to them....RESULT: 100% gratitude and no complaints. plus it makes me feel good...Soldier on

I started working with leather two years ago, I am still in the make it work stage, and I doubt that I will move on to making it pretty. There is some beautiful holsters and sheaths posted here and my hat is off to the artists. I am at the point where if I up my game I am going to have to buy some tools that didn't come from Temu, and leather working tools are extremely spendy.

I just finished this lefty IWB holster for my snub 19-4. I’m going up in the Sierras for a week pretty soon and when going for walks needed a holster I could just slip on and off. The J frame holster is my son’s. I carve these even though you can’t see them.
Wyatt,

Thanks for updating this thread. I really like seeing the work of forum members. Most think they can only get leather gear from the big names. There are plenty of leather crafters on this forum! Glad to see all the posts.
