Bumping this for some real world information and an example. Another site I frequent because it is in my home state and thus provides local interests still uses the same software this forum used to use. They have been getting hit hard with spam bots for the past month, causing the site to crash or become unavailable. Today when I tried to go to the site, I got this:

So whether you like the new software or not, be aware that if we were still using the old software, we would probably be getting attacked as well and might not be able to be accessed as well. The new software is far superior in dealing with such problems and attacks.
