Custom Sights for S&W 686 Plus 3-inch

Hello all...MIA for a few years. I'm ba-ack! (No, I wasn't incarcerated, LOL.)

I have a new 686 plus 3-inch (latest engineering) in layaway. This will be my 1st I.L. S&W (sigh?). All my other S&Ws are P&R models from the '60s and '70s. My 65 year-old eyes no longer like the standard white outline target rear and red ramp front sights. Though I do have a custom 28-2 4-inch with the big Millett target sights with which I'm good-to-go. Millett, I've discovered, is no longer doing their old-school stuff (sigh).

Please advise on any new custom sights available that help old eyes.

I'm looking at Cylinder & Slide options but their web-site pics suck. Does anyone know the specifics of the front-sight design on the 686 plus...Improved Ramp or Patridge? .250 or .300?

I looked into front sights for my 2.5 inch and Hi Viz has front sight. I looked at older threads and never found a specific height , I did find where calipers are used and another suggested .250

I have a 629-5 that I installed a meprolight tritium front sight and a C&S u-notch fixed rear that shoots true to POA. I really like the night sights or fiber optic fronts for my aging eyes.

Have you considered a Red Dot?

Great idea and I'm interested in this solution, though so far I've only done Red Dots for long guns.

I've also already purchased a Threepersons holster for this gun so I'll likely customize the on-board sights 1st.

Looks good caelo4. Were you able to do the mods yourself? I have Mepros on a couple of SAs.
