I have recently received a model 43 (22-32 kit gun). It is a really use specific little unit that in this case is amazingly accurate with just about any ammo. Mechanically it is very fresh, but, the finish and overall appearance makes this one a "shooter". It's fun-ness to shoot makes me concerned about the durability of the aluminum alloy cylinder as I would like to plink with this little lightweight a lot. Any thoughts from those with alloy 22RF cylindered S&Ws? Thank you & Safe Shooting

S&W made many of their later Model 17 K-22 with aluminum cylinders and they have held up fine. There is a lot of metal between the chambers and the locking bolt notches, the thinnest part, in J frame .22's so I doubt pressures are a problem. My only concern would be peening of those notches from a lot of fast double action shooting, usually caused by the inertia of the rotating cylinder being stopped so suddenly by the locking bolt, but that might not matter because with the much lighter cylinder, and thus the force, would be a lot less.

I've never heard of a Model 43 owner blowing his cylinder up.
