I recently came up with a model 15-4 that has been customized into a ppc revolver. I would like to replace the blued fluted cylinder with a stainless unfluted cylinder. I would like to break up all the black with some two tone look. Where could I find a stainless unfluted cylinder for this model and would the new cylinder have to be fitted or timed by a gunsmith or could I just swap out the cylinders?

I bought a gunsmith special(Model 67-1) which had a buldged charge/cylinder hole. I contacted S&W about it, and they sent me a ship tag, and only charged for service, which besides a new cylinder but an action job too. So now my 67-1 has one of the new style cylinders with the odd extractor star, and a DA/SA to die for, S&W paid shipping both ways, all I paid was 75.00 for service.

Them boys in Springfield sure treated someone rather nicely, good for you, good luck with it.

Here is a model 10 with a 64 cylinder and trim. The cylinder has to be fitted to the gun. Plus the barrel may need fitting to. Send to factory and have them fit it for you is the best deal.

There are several stainless N frames with unfluted cylinders, but I don't think there is a K frame (unless it was a commemorative).

Like murphydog, I haven't ever seen an unfluted K frame cylinder, either blue or stainless, and don't know that they ever made one.
