The Czech holding company Czechoslovak Group (CSG) has recently announced it's going to purchase ammunition businesses Federal, CCI, Hevi-Shot, Remington Ammo and Speer, owned by Vista Outdoors, for a reported $1.91 billion, pending related approval.

Vista Outdoors is part of the conglomerate Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK).

I also saw where they took a controlling stake in Fiocchi Munizioni, the manufacturer of small-caliber ammunition, late last November.

Wonder what affect this will have on the current supply situation?

Wow

It's not good when ownership of established American companies goes overseas, alarming when it's something as critical as ammo!
Our supply could be cut off just when we need it most.

I'm cool with it. Czech is one of the few places with a RTBA so I doubt they'll fold under Fed pressure.

I don't particularly trust vista outdoors to begin with.
But this has an out of the frying pan and into the fire kind of vibe.

Not really....
Vista doesn't seem to act the part of a friend to us

It's important to realize that handloaders are an incredibly small group of consumers. They're not going to make or break a huge company. I'm pretty sure the big manufacturers look at handloaders' purchases as nothing more than a very small, perhaps even insignificant source of revenue. It's likely always been that way.

There were guns in that picture?:confused::confused:

Maybe under European ownership they will bring in Berdan primers for reloading milsurp ammo, even though that can be a pain for other reasons.

It's also important to realize that the $50 box of hunting ammo was closer to $17 not to long ago

I almost never buy factory ammo as it seldom shoots as accurately as well developed handloads. I'm not really up on the prices of commercial ammo, only components. I haven't used factory hunting ammo to take game with since 1972.
