The story may have been sanitized. Early reports were three or four gunmen. Then it becomes the usual lone gunman.

If it was a coordinated, albeit botched ISIS hanger on operation, then the lone gunman story would serve a number of ends.

No. It was one rage-crazy criminal who had threatened this kind of attack two years before. There's no need to sanitize it and almost certainly no involvement with ISIS or any other such group. The early reports of three or four gunmen seem to have been from bystanders who were scared spitless. If the lunatic was firing from various positions in the van it could have looked like multiple shooters.

The news has now covered it. I heard NO full auto fire, but it may not have been recorded. If they had it, they'd have probably played it, for drama.

Apparently, the vehicle was armored and not easily vulnerable to the 5.56mm patrol rifles that many officers carry in cars. They hit the engine with a big .50. Don't know if they used it on the driver, too.

The NBC station talking head quickly reported that Gov. Abbott signed the open carry and college carry bills today, in a gun store. She carefully added that the bills were controversial, but didn't otherwise editorialize for gun control. Looked like a large, nice gun store, in Austin.

Media from Dallas reporting that the suspect who attacked police headquarters is dead.

Good riddance.

Same guy arrested just two years ago in Paris, TX after he armed himself and threatened to kill his family and shoot up schools.

We need more laws! If we had sensible gun control that would stop criminals from...
