DAO 3rd Gen smith: how is the trigger pull?

I do not agree with your statement and do not recommend that said statement be recognized as valid by most shooters.

Care to share with us which DAO models you have tried?

If we're speaking of Sigma's...you have a legit complaint - at least until you run 500 or so rounds thru one.

If you mean any of the 3rd Gen pieces, I'd like to know which one(s) as your experience is diametrically opposed to mine...

These guns have a very smooth pull - maybe 5-6 pounds with a Wolffe aftermarket hammer spring and a little polishing on the internals.

Mine are great, and I use Wolff reduced power mainsprings and polish and lube as well as anyone, however, the lowest DAO pull I have on any of mine is well above 6 pounds...

Does anyone have any experience with removing the magazine dis-connector on a Smith DAO, and did it improve trigger pull?

Myron

My understanding is that the Wolffe reduced power hammer spring is the same weight as the springs S&W puts in the DAO models. The DA/SA models have a heavier spring. When I swapped out the original spring on my police surplus 4046 and replaced it with the Wolffe spring there was no change in trigger weight. On my gun that means 10 lbs, a reasonably short and very smooth trigger capable of good work out to 25 yards. It may be possible to put in a weaker trigger return spring but I have not done that and don't feel it is necessary.

I absolutely love my 5946. Trigger feels just like the old Model 10 I have. That gun and me were made for each other, I can make head shots at 25 yards all day long with that gun. My 3914DAO has a nice trigger as well, but isn't a conventional 3rd Gen DAO. Mine has second strike capability, maybe someone who knows more then I do can explain it.

The worse DAO I've experienced was my Sig 226. Absolutely horrendous. Trigger pull was about a mile long and extremely heavy. That's part of the reason I carry the 5946 now.
