Darted into a pawn shop - Out with a 66 no dash

Here's my 66 2.5" serial 13K3xxx that I carried as a Robbery Detective with KCPD. We were allowed to carry our own as long as it was loaded with department issued .38 Special (125 grn Remington SJHP).

Can't remember right off how much I paid for it, but bought it at LEECO on Main in KC,MO.

I think I read somewhere that there's a twelve step program for addicted S&W 66 owners.

I too joined the 66-no dash club in November, quite as a fluke. I was watching an on-line live auction and saw the pre-bid on the 66 was rather low. So I put down $375 thinking I would easily be out bid. Other stuff was going for ridiculous amounts. My surprise when I won. It wasn't until I got it in my hands that I realized what I had.

4" 66 with the a 4K1xxx s/n. Recessed cylinders, trigger stop and stainless sights....which work real well on dark targets, btw. The hammer spring had been bent to lighten the pull resulting in mis-fires. Put in a new spring and WOW. What a great single and double action trigger. Actually had to back off on the strain screw a bit. Originally I was going to dump it on Gun Broker, but now it's has an honored place along side me around the house.

Being newly addicted to S&W revolvers, it make take me longer to overcome the euphoria. Step 1 is admitting we have a problem.....CHECK. Actually, I'm struggling with Step Six...

# Step 6 - We're ready to have God remove all these defects of character

HAVING PROBLEMS LETTING GO OF MY "DEFECTS OF CHARACTER"
the Rugers, the Charter Arms and the Taraus

I've been looking for a four inch 66 for a while but I keep buying something else because I either don't see one or I see a beater maraca that I wouldn't feel safe shooting. Would a 19 be a fair trade for a 66 or would I just get laughed at? What would be deemed a fair straight trade for a 19-4 four inch P/R with only minor wear for the same thing in a 66?
