I believe it's an M&P, anyway.

4-screw, 2" barrel K-frame, round butt. pinned barrel, not recessed cylinder. No model # stamped inside frame.

Serial # on butt is C4257xx.

Half-moon front sight. Bluing is very good, color-case hardening on hammer and trigger are excellent. Magna stocks are serial numbered to the gun.

Traded into it, shot it once so far. Feels like it needs a grip adapter or different stocks. I have big paws, so the Magnas always feel smallish to me.

Very nice, and it looks original. It is probably a late 1959 to early 1960 ship date, which fits in with the 4-screw frame. The classic larger grip solution would be an adapter, like a Tyler T-grip. Hope this is helpful.

M&P postwar, Pre model 10, mid-late 195o's by the SN, a little confusing because of the half moon front sight (changed to ramp in '52) and the lack of a fifth screw (deleted in '55). Newer frame with an older barrel? Maybe one of the more experienced members can offer more insight.

Late 1955 to mid 1957!

Nice revolver, a must have in my book of Smith's to own. Someone will be along with a more precise DOB.

If the SN on the barrel flat matches, probably a leftover part - maybe 2" M & Ps weren't flying off dealers' shelves at that time?

Here is one just a little later, SN C432xxx.They must have been a really slow seller.
