Daughters can be a PITA

I wish my daughter (still at home in HS) was into firearms or even the outdoors. Mine always prefaces her desires by suddenly cleaning the kitchen or offering to help with other chores outside of her assigned ones, then once done, says, "Dad, can I have x?", or "Dad, can I go to x with x?", or asks for money for some amorphous reason that ends up being money wasted getting fake nails or some creams and lotions that cost more than ammo.
My boys will do anything outdoors, even mow and weed. I'm buying a chainsaw this weekend to remove some ancillary (read useless) trees, and they've already got designs on using it. No. Just no.

Well if she really doesn't want anything to do with the outdoors I wouldn't make her do it...but being the way I am and was...when it comes to the can I have money or can I go here or there...there would be some...No...just nos... there too. How old is she? Mine got to spend wasted money ONLY when she Earned it herself...what a wake up call that was! Sounds mean but mine worked at the gun club and made darn good money doing so and learned to deal with adults...most of the adults really liked her and she didn't try to smooze them. Grand kids have had to do the same both boys and girls.....not even any cell phones. The youngest is waiting till she gets to be 12 when she will get a Marlin M-39 set aside for her

I hear you. My daughter just got her driving license, so she's looking to go to work soon, which I heavily encourage. Her phone is earned, and if she screws up, it gets taken away. My boys won't be getting phones until and unless they are participating in school activities away from home and maybe not then. So far, they only participate in martial arts locally and far prefer to be out with me working, fishing, or four-wheeling at the grandparent's land. I really dislike the phone thing with kids these days. I never had one in school (they didn't exist) and got by just fine. What's funny is these parents that will drop $1000 on the latest iPhone, and to a man, all those kids' phones have cracked screens, despite cases.
