The barrel on my M&P 9 Pro has rough area that looks like a rough rifling button on every groove opposite every land. It's a pretty new gun and fired very little due to the winter weather, etc. The barrel on my Shield doesn't have this flaw. I'm going to contact the factory for a replacement barrel. Has anybody else had a problem barrel like this from S & W ?

What flaw? It looks like some kind of fouling to me. Get a good bore brush and solvent. Scrub the snot out of it with a good pistol rod. Repeat. Then decide on sending it back.

By the way, how does it shoot?

It's not fouling it's machining marks and it shoots great.

If it shoots great, then don't touch it. No need to go searching out problems that don't exist... the rifling looks perfect in my gun and it won't shoot worth a darn. I'd trade places with you in an instant so I would say ignore it and spend less time worrying and more time shooting.

Ballistol is an excellent cleaner.......worked for me when all others I tried failed.

I got my gun back from the factory the other day and they replaced the barrel. I shot it today and the new barrel is very accurate. I'm really happy with the gun. I'd like to put a rear adjustable sight on it along with a green fiber optic front sight for these old eyes. Any suggestions ? Thank.
