Get the facts first.

Both sides can manipulate data.
So, examine each issue, or we merely become pro-gun lemmings that aren't much better than anti-gun lemmings.

The actual vote referenced above was NOT on the treaty.

It was a vote on an amendment to the BUDGET.

This is the wording of that amendment to the Budget:
SA 139. Mr. INHOFE submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 8, setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2014, revising the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal year 2013, and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2015 through 2023; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
At the end of title III, add the following:

SEC. 3__. DEFICIT-NEUTRAL RESERVE FUND TO UPHOLD SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS AND PREVENT THE UNITED STATES FROM ENTERING INTO THE UNITED NATIONS ARMS TRADE TREATY. The Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate may revise the allocations of a committee or committees, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in this resolution for one or more bills, joint resolutions, amendments, motions, or conference reports that relate to upholding Second Amendment rights, which shall include preventing the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, by the amounts provided in such legislation for those purposes, provided that such legislation would not increase the deficit or revenues over either the period of the total of fiscal years 2013 through 2018 or the period of the total of fiscal years 2013 through 2023.
You can read it in The Congressional Record here:

There were hundreds of amendments voted on that were attachments to the Budget. This is amendment number 139. The vote was taken at 4:30am on 3-23-13. I would assume they had been there all night trying to pass a budget.
Don't take my word for it- see for yourself:

My point here-
Always get the whole story.
I'm NOT defending those Senators. I am merely pointing out that they voted against a Budget amendment, not specifically against the 2nd Amendment, and not specifically FOR the UN Arms Treaty.

Here is an example of what I mean:
Tonight we are eating takeout food.
I vote against pizza from Luigi's.
Now, an email could be circulated that I don't like Luigi's.

An email could be circulated that I don't like pizza.
MAYBE I like both, but I just think pizza from Luigi's is too expensive for what I would get. ;)

Before you swallow, KNOW what you are being fed.

Before you tell me, I know Snopes is not necessarily the last word on everything.

It would also take a 2/3rds yes vote to pass. Not just a simple majority.

THANK YOU SIR(S) MAY I HAVE ANOTHER.
My bad, I usually check this kind of stuff when I receive it. The friend who sent it is usually pretty reliable. I guess the fact that it wasn't already posted here should have raised a red flag.

Admins: Since the original post was so grossly inaccurate, I am deleting it. Feel free to delete the rest...
