What is the demand for factory Remington 22 Jet ammo currently? Several threads in the past claimed it was loaded too hot and wasn't recommended for use. I know PPU and possibly others make small batches periodically. My question is directed at the factory Remington ammo specifically.

FActory Remington ammo is reputed to erode forcing cones very rapidly. I shot a couple boxes of it before I learned that, and realized the crazy price it brought. The PPU stuff is much milder. A photo of my forcing cone. I have since sold this.PXL_20240606_232527607.jpg

Thanks for the reply. That's what I remembered someone stating in the past. I came across some recently but questioned the viability of purchasing.

I have some older factory .22 Jet ammo that I use for display. I thought maybe someday I would buy a rifle, or TC Contender. It would be OK to shoot it them in those platforms.

I had two boxes of Remington . Around half of the first has been shot by a tester of national magazine , to write a review of the revolver several years ago; the second one is still full. Almost all the cases cracked on the rim, and they stuck in the cylinder. Fortunately I had no forcing cone erosion, but I 'll never fire the next box.

Have heard of the factory ammo bringing $100 per box. I have a box and most of another. Have fired a few rounds when someone wanted to see the fireball with no problems. Have a 1st year Jet so don't plan on selling my ammo.

I won this the other day..
I couldn’t resist at that price

$93 out the door incl shipping
I think you're fine but for the small savings over a known ammo dealer I probably would have passed. Just a heads up, SG Ammo has the same PPU for $35 per box with free shipping over $200. I get real nervous buying small batches of ammo online even from established sellers. I've been hosed twice with supposed "factory ammo" only to find a mix of headstamps, different looking primers, even got a blend of nickel and brass case once I opened the boxes. All the sellers swear it was a mistake or I was the one trying to pull a fast one.

Repeat - repeat-
Had not one but two 53s.
They beat me into the ground!
Then I met this Crazy Texian who has a Ranch near Del Norte, CO.
He uses his 53 for just about everything! Protection, varmit control, poaching.
His 4 inch was showing Throat Erosion. Not sure how many rounds.
So let’s get to the Elephant in the room.
Set Back? Yes for me, lots of it with full loads.
He say no! I say how not?
After cleaning and lubing, he sprayed his 53 with Electronic Cleaner.
Removes any and all lube in the charge holes. Then same-same to the ammo.
So was I inspired to get another one?
NO! Two was enough.
Time for me to move on!
