Back in the late 90s I had Derry Gallagher of Texas make a holster for a 696 I was packin at the time. Sold the 696 several years ago, as the forcing cone was too thin for comfort; for me.

Would like to have another holster made by Gallagher for a 3" 65 as it is a first rate concealment holster. Haven't seen his moniker for several years. Is he still in business? If not I would take some pics of the holster and see if I could find someone to make a duplicate.

Last I heard, Mr. Gallagher was quite ill. That was a few years back. I'm not sure he's still with us, which is too bad if true. He made some really nice holsters, and did some cool bobbed conversions of Model 58s and some other Smiths. I tried to track him down a few months before finding out he was sick, and had no luck.

38-44: Thanks for the reply. There was a piece on him in Combat handguns with a shortened, bobbed and round butted 58 that looked quite "custom". If I remember right with him working that 58 it was very accurate.

Well now I need to find someone who will make a replacement for a very fast and well made holster. Researching holster design could be a real drag without the internet.

As is the case with Gallagher, I've never dealt with our resident holster makers, Srigs, Lobogunleather, or Bell Charter Oak. My hunch is that one of those guys will make you very happy that you did business with them.
