Just bought a 19-2 nickel 4" made in 1965 according to seller (on GB).
He said grips are not numbered. Just wondering if they are original to this gun
Can someone explain the numbering of grips as to what time frame they were numbered?

Only a few very early Target stocks were serialized to the gun. By the time the 19-2 came out, that practice was long into the past.

Magna stocks were serialized until about the late 1970s.

There is simply no way to determine whether a particular set of Target stocks came with any particular gun after the early 1950s. A letter will tell you whether the gun shipped with Targets, but it can't tell you whether the exact stocks that are on the gun now actually came with that gun.

A 19-2 from 1965 would have had Target stocks on it when shipped. They would be diamond Targets with the small football cut. If yours match that description, there is a good chance they came with the gun. But certainty is out of reach.

Here is a picture of a Model 15-2 from roughly the same time period. This is what your Target stocks should look like.

Several years ago I bought a used 4-screw Model 19 which came with beautiful diamond target stocks that were not numbered. I have no letter but always assumed they were original to the gun.
