picked this up today from a Ohio prison officer he just retired carried lot and shot a little. there is a little bluing loss on the muzzle. The grips are still very nice and I got a Roy's leather holster with it paid $320.00 p.s. there are no engraving marks on it from being issued. I am a happy camper

my bad thought it was a -3 but its a -4

No...320 was fine....and if dash three it is older than 1980!
Have fun with it!

You did very well! I paid about $200 *more* for mine a little more than a year ago. Yours doesn't even seem to have a turn line.

Are you serious? You can barely buy ammo for that much now a days.
If it's a 19-3, you need a set of grips without the large cutout to make it original. She looks to be in great shape. Congradulations.

My first S&W was a 19-3 with a target trigger and hammer that I bought new in 1974 from Lock's Philadelphia Gun Exchange. I had one on order for six months at a local gun shop but finally had to drive from Harrisburg to Phithydephia to find one.

Nope, you didn't over pay..........you stole it. I'll give you $400.00 just to keep you out of trouble.............NICE.

I have the same but in 6" barrel. 1975 I paid $208.
I saw it used, at a gun show last year for $550.
I think- you did fine.
Its a great all around gun. Take it to the range, bench it @50-75yards.

Very nice deal. I paid $495 a few months ago for a 4" 19-4 in similar condition, but w/all options, and still think I got a bargain.

around these parts, you cant touch a four inch 19/66 for under 500, more if it's in fine shape, and a snubby....forget it.....
you did kiss the guy, right? common courtesy....

I paid $515 for mine last year so you did great. great gun, shoots straight and great balance with the longer barrel. Enjoy!

you did well. Check the cylinder to see if it spins true, cock the hammer and try to force it forward, if you can't, then she is good to go. You just bought one of the finest revolvers S&W has ever made.

There is a fella in Iowa that makes BEAUTIFUL custom wood grips for the old S&W's.

Here is my 66 with a set of his grips:

Also, Gould and Goodrich makes a nice 3 slot Pancake thumb retention holster that fits the 19/66 like a glove. I got mine on Amazon for $56 and had it in under a week.
