Dude claims to have one (haven't seen pics yet) and I was wondering if it's worth making an offer to buy. I presume it's in good condition, and he has 4 mags with it. Trying to make sure it's not a model 6906, but haven't heard back yet. Thought someone on here might know.

Yes, from 88 to 99.

Ok, thanks, I am having a hard time pulling anything up on the net. Course, I am a little challenged there. Seems like it may be an all steel version of the 6906 stainless, but not sure.

I dont think he read the title correctly, they never made a 6909, it's probably a typo...

Ok, it's really a 6906. When he sent me the pics, it's right there on the gun. Still, I don't know anything about that gun either. Is it a dependable weapon?

...or 6096 if you read it backwards.

6906/4 possibly the most underrated in the 3rd gen series . I can't imagine anyone with the 3rd gen addiction not having one . You can still find them relatively cheap . I would have liked to see a tsw version but that only happened as the PC Shorty 9 .

The 6906 is highly regarded. U.S. Customs thought enough of the 6906 that they adopted it when they changed from revolvers to autos. Those pistols served with distinction. When S&W introduced that model series as the Gen 2 469/669, they were often more accurate than the full-size 439/459, most likely due to the change in the bushing design between the full-size (removable bushing like 1911) and the so-called mini-gun (pressed in and non-removable like the High Power).

The 6906 is a great pistol. It was my first 3rd Gen & of course I still have it. It hasn't been to the range in a while as I've been taking the 45's more than anything, but I think its going to be making the trip real soon!

This one is the square trigger guard vs. the round one and doesn't have novak sights. It comes with 4 mags. The dude wants $375. Is that a good price?

A gun shop near me (sort of) has two 6906s listed at $399.99. One has 2 magazines, one has three. They also have a 6904 with two mags listed at $349.99. I'd be tempted to buy one as a back up to my existing 6906, but last month I bought a second 3913 as a back up to my first. Which in turn is a back up to my 3913TSW.

I have a serious problem with 3rd generation guns. I don't have enough money to buy all of the ones I'd like to have.

Square trigger is the variation before the rounded one in the above picture.
Carried one for years, still know of plenty in service.
Good price in good condition with 4 mags.

They don't by chance have a nice 5906 do they, I'm getting the itch for one.
