did you sale/trade to get the m&p shield.

Sorta...... I sold my Kel-tec PF9 & P-11 to buy my M&P9C. While I love the compact, I quickly realized it was to thick to wear while sitting in my office chair, all day long. So.... I wen't out and bought a Shield to go with the 9C. Problem solved!

Thank goodness I did not dispose of my G 26 ,,,, my Shield has proven to be a problem and is back at th Factory for repair or Replacement.

No. But I may sell my Walther PPK/S .380 now. The Shield is the same size and carries the same number of rounds as the Walther. But the Shield is much lighter and has the punch of the .40 S&W round.

Old thread but why not...

When I heard the Shield was coming out, I dumped my PF9 and my 9c because I suspected the market would tank on them and neither really fit the bill. The shield was the perfect compromise.

I never trade or sell at a gun store so I lost nothing on either of the guns.

I am pretty patient and will not pay inflated prices so I waited a year until the Shields were in stock for normal prices, carrying a 642CT in the meantime. My LGS always has plenty on hand for $399 OTD.

I suppose I was smart to wait because a couple days ago, my Brother-In-Law surprised me with a Shield 9 as a gift for helping him land a very good job.

Patience is a virtue indeed;)

:rolleyes:It sure doesn't look like the 9c has tanked.

Traded straight across a display Shield at Cabelas for my 1, 300 round 4 month old Beretta Nano.

I wonder if I did ok in the trade ? :)

Head to my dealer now to trade my 642 towards a shield. My dealer hS only gotten 3 of these in the last year and currently has one now that I don't want to get away.. Guess ill be buying another j frame in the near future! Lol

So there I was....

I was a new poster so I just grabbed any old post even if it was a year old...

I replied like it was current. No biggie I figured, who notices post dates???? :p

I waited for my Shield until I could buy it for $335. Even then, it was too much. While I was waiting for them to come in stock I bought quite a few third gens and I can promise you one thing:

The Shield will go LONG before the third gens.... ;)

.

Sold a Kahr CM9 to "partially" fund the Shield.
Sold a S&W 6906 to fund the Kahr.
Sold a Berretta 92FS to fund the 6906.

I cry about selling all of them except the Kahr. If you can afford it, keep what you got and get another. :)

I purchased my Shield outright same as many others have stated. But now that I have a Shield, I am considering selling one of my non M&P 9mm's since I wonder how much I will use it. Not in a hurry, but if the right deal comes up.

When I found a Ruger SP101 I liked, I sold my PF-9 and the proceeds were applied toward the eight shot 22 LR revolver. Have a couple other pistols on the "someday" list, but will not be selling the Shield to get anything else.

You can sell a gun in your collection???

Who knew?

And here I thought this violated the laws of nature..

Bought my Shield 9 outright. I traded a rifle once and regretted it ever since. I won't do it again. I'll just buy bigger safes.

I bought my shield outright, but since I switched to it as my EDC I am thinking about selling one of my sigs that I was using as a carry gun.

Traded my M&P40c for it. Wasn't really the trade I was looking for, as I wanted to move to .45 instead but since my wife has a Shield 9mm as well, I figured I could do it. I wanted something I could wear with my shirt tucked in or in my slacks pocket, which the Shield does for me. It is still a possibility if an XDs45 comes available from someone wanting a Shield, I might go for it. But unless that happens, I'm good (after I smooth out the trigger).

Shield came up or a song on a local forum, so we snatched it up. But we'd be happy to part with our 9c CrimsonTrace now, since we don't need both...

There is only one gun our family has ever sold since 1906. Dad sold a 30-06 back in the 90s that he had. Other than that, we have every gun that has been bought by a family member since my Great Grandfather. Obviously some dont get shot anymore and the answer to your questions is....didnt sell or trade anything.

Hayden.

After may years of having to trade to get what I want at the time I have learned for me it was not the best way to do things.. I am now a lot older and wiser. What I have learned is I always have kicked my self for trading even though I may be happy at the moment I found me kicking my self a year down the road.. Guns are a good investment if you have them long enough you will never lose money "in the long run" in the short when you buy a gun and walk out of the shop and shoot it you use too lose 1/3 of the price off the top.. Not bad but i think it's even less now.. then the value levels off there depending on care and wear and starts to clime back up if your good to it.. Also a gun is a personal thing like a pocket knife or a ring watch, trade it lose it you will feel bad sooner or latter..George

Bought an xds9(online), actually didnt like how it felt at all in my hand, didnt even bother shooting it, sold it and bought a shield, couldnt be happier!

Sold: Taurus PT 745 Mil Pro, Taurus PT 140 Mil Pro, and Kel Tec PF-9
For: NIB Shield 40, plus TruGlo TFO GRN & Apex DCAEK both installed while I waited.

In the past, I have parted with a gun in order to acquire another gun. I have almost always wound up regretting doing that though.

I scraped up the cash and just bought my Shield.

Yep. Traded in a 4 month old Walther PK380 for a Shield in .40 S&W. Couldn't get use to the weird safety on the Walther and I wanted a bit more stopping power for CC. Did like the feel of the Walther though.

Also traded a Walther for mine, but mine was a P38/P-1 from 1956. Fun gun, but I got it because I wanted a shooter and then learned that the aluminum framed post war guns were even more fragile than a WW2 era P38! So, after moving around my safe for a few years, I took it to my LGS and traded it for a brand new, 7 day old Shield 9 and I could not be happier.

In fact, this is my first, brand new, never owned by anyone but me Smith & Wesson. As such, I may have this one for life. It's or mine, whichever comes first.

No trade here. I ordered and paid in full for 2 M&P40 Shields back around June 1, 2012. The first came in at Thanksgiving and the second came in on 1-31-2013. I paid $399.99 each when I ordered them, LGS knocked $50 off each for the Prepay. I could mot be happier with these guns. (One went to my son for his birthday)

And I found someone who traded their XDs45 for my Shield 9. And I do like it and I shoot better with it (plus bigger holes - LOL).

The only shield I found in the last few months at a local shop was going for $550 so I wasn't paying that... Ended up trading a glock 23 I won in a raffle with about $300 worth of extra magazines and a conversion barrel for a shield and $100... No regrets... I am somehow better with the shield than the glock as well...
