Disappointed with Remora holster

Ordered holster for my shield online with their order form on which the bottom line states ( gun make and model here ). I filled it out as a S&W 9mm shield. About 10 days later I received a holster that was too small for the shield. I called Remora and was told they would replace the holster but I needed to pay shipping both ways. When I asked why I should have to pay shipping I was told that I had ordered the wrong holster even though it clearly stated that it was for a shield. I am not impressed with Remora holster customer service.

Rick lang, welcome to the forum. What an interesting first post, as it flies in the face of every experience I've had with Remora - well, except for that series of posts here by a new member back in - was it '09? - which turned out to have been made by someone working for Remora's competition.

So . . . with whom did you speak at Remora?

What about the holster was too small?
Too short for the barrel? Too Tight, girth-wise? Both?

When I got mine, it was VERY snug (girth-wise), but I simply did what I do with all new holsters (and what many holster companies recommend) and wrapped the barrel and trigger guard areas in an old sock overnight a couple times and it stretched it out to where it fit perfectly.
I'd much rather have a holster that initially fits too snug, than one that is loose to begin with.

When I got my last one, I also received a free mag pouch, free liner upgrade and 33% off the entire order. This in itself, would have offset needing to pay postage for a return. [shrug]

I too was disappointed with my Remora holsters when I received them. They were not grippy at all. I chalked it up to good advertising and bad product until I talked to a remora dealer at a gun show. He explained that they got a bad batch of material and to call them. I did, and they replaced both holsters free of charge. I have been happy with their customer service.

I have purchased 5 Remora products so far, had a slight problem with an order and it was resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. They were really easy to deal with and responded to my emails quickly. If I were you I would try contacting them again.
Just curious, which holster number did you order?

I have the Remora for the Shield and found just the opposite, I think they could make it a hair smaller and it would work fine. I have the 5MPART, that is what they recommend for the Shield. I have also found the Shield fits into the Remora I have for my J-Frame.

If you have an issue, Remora will take care of it. Their customer service is excellent.

Maybe that's the problem with mine... Just doesn't seem to work that well...

Mine is for secondary purposes (now), here is my review. It does keep my revo from banging around the console if I put it there. I have a pocket Kydex for primary carry.

Nothing against Remora, but I bought a #4ART (wrong size) and it showed to much trigger. Then I bought the proper #8 and the gun sits so deep in it, that you have to work your hand into the holster to grab it properly. The plus side of the Remora is, you can AIWB pretty easily, but you still have the grip issue, so it may see limited use.

For what I paid, I may take it to an upholstery shop and have it stitched to get the proper depth. I just think the issue is Remora tried to make to many different J-Frames fit the same holster.

P.S. I bought mine at a LGS so no customer service issue with Remora.

Love Remora, I own 7 and carry IWB daily the most comfortable holster I have ever owned. Have hundreds of dollars of expensive leather and kydex holsters sitting in my desk that will never see the light of day again.
I do however agree Remora's website does not do a good job of making it easy for the consumer. I had a fix issue and only had to pay to ship the bad holster back to them. Again no big deal it cost less than $5.

I can ONLY say good things about Remora. I have two of their holsters as well as a mag holster which they threw in for free! When I called to ask questions prior to placing my order I was given discount codes that reduced my overall cost by 15%.

Excellent customer service. Excellent products.

I have the same one for my Shield and hate it, well hate may be a bit strong. I just don't like how it feels compared to the Galco King-Tuk. It just doesn't sit right and it's hard to tuck your shirt inbetween the flaps to fit over the gun.

I love my remora 5mpart. I ordered one after I heard another member mention they liked it. I carry my shield up front and didn't like the hard plastic of other holsters digging into me. It takes time getting used to (it originally felt like it's gonna fall out or have it fall down into my pant leg) but it always stays put. I like it more then my cross breed. Definitely recommend it!

I find that the shield sits perfectly into it

Oh, it fits and all that but I just don't like the way it feels in the 4:00 position.

PM me if you want to buy it at half price. And you get a free mag holder.

Here is the result of about 5 minutes at the Upholstery shop, better than new!!! Still going to be a secondary holster but not bad for the price.

My Remora was a tad too tight for the Shield even after leaving the pistol in it for weeks. The holster would come out on a draw and that's not good. I picked out the line of stitching that runs below the trigger guard, and that solved that problem. I'm not too impressed at the reliability of it staying in position. I've worn it for a while moving around, getting in and out of the car quite a few times, and suddenly realized the pistol and holster is about to fall out on the ground. Has to be pretty tight in the waistband to stay where you want it, and even then the angle tends to shift around.

I have a 642 and mine sits nowhere near as deep as yours does. My entire grip and about a half an inch of the frame shows. It looks like you have the wrong size. If you ordered the #8 that is for a barrel up to 2 3/4 inches with the exposed hammer. The #8CH is for barrels up to 2 1/8 with concealed hammer. That is the one I ordered and it works great.

I have a Remora and two Sticky Holsters. I like the Remora because I ordered one with a added pouch on it to hold a spare magazine. But the one thing I don't like, after wearing it all day on bare skin it starts to chafe.

The Sticky Holsters are very sticky and don't chafe. I prefer them. You can find them at stickyholsters.com
