Display ideas??

If you will not be displaying them flat on the shelves, many would use "prop rods" that hold the gun through the trigger guard and up at at angle.
I see people here post pictures of their guns using some kind of gun stand that holds the gun with a rod going down the barrel.

They are 13/16" x 3". I also have some that are 4" long which are better for long barreled guns.
Actually those clear glass or plastic dowels with the S&W logo on the end are probably more attractive to many folks. You can also get them with Brand X logos.

These display stands are attractive and are made by a fellow Forum member whose name escapes me now. The rods are made of oak I think and I have never had a problem with them, but I personally would not use them for any N frame barrel length over about 4" because of the weight of the gun.

Just be careful about who you let into the house.
They work for looooong barreled N frames, too.

But the .40+ calibers can use 3/8" oak rather than 5/16". Zero danger of breaking the oak rods, but it is important to scale-up the bases for the bigger guns.

Here is a home brewed, adjustable, display stand, that I made. It will hold several types, and sizes of revolvers, and pistols. My son machined the brass adjustment knobs.

I use all the above, black rod down the barrel (Browning Hi-power) these are just rubberized rods. I also use S & W prop rods and clear Lucite plastic stands for both long guns and revo's.
Since I have kids, and grandkids in the house at most all times, I use the props and stands for getting photo's more than display. Firearms generally stay locked away in the safe.
I did see a antique corner curio cabinet at a store sometime back and thought if I could beef up the lock somehow this would be a gorgeous piece with 5 shelves of 2 or 3 Smiths on each shelf.

Mike Campbell is too modest to toot his own horn, so I will toot it for him. The picture in his post showing a long barreled S&W on a wood base is probably one of his bases... at least it looks like the ones he sells. I have been very pleased with the one he made for me out of some sort of very dark brown African wood with black streaks. It is both secure and attractive. 
However, this brings me to the concept of security from theft or misuse. If we go back to the'50s and '60s we can see many articles showing a wide variety of beautiful wall, shelf, or table displays of guns of all kinds. At this time in history however, these are no longer advisable. We need to be aware of the current climate and consider optics, safety, theft concerns, etc, etc. Unless your "gun room" can be independently secured, or unless your whole house is invasion proof (and child proof) any and all of these open displays become an open invitation to problems. Unfortunately, these considerations must come first and actual display considerations after.
When I win the lottery I plan to buy a bank safe door and construct a walk-in gun room where I can safely display all of my stuff, then walk out and securely lock it all away. No, that will be the second time I win the lottery... I already have too many plans for spending the first one!.

So...Terry...How many Registered Magnums live with you? Not that Im jealous or anything.......
Actually just a couple now. I very recently consigned my 3.5" (top picture on the left side) & 6.5" (not pictured) NRM's, I sold the 8.75" RM (second picture on the left side which I did the Journal article on last year) to a dealer last Fall, and RKmesa is now the proud owner of the 8.5" Transitional (second picture on the right side). I also sold my 5.5" RM (also in the Journal article) and my 6" RM with left handed Roper grips.
At the age of 73, and with no one in the family that knows much of anything about the value of these fabulous revolvers, I just thought the time had come to pass most of them on to those that really appreciate them. In my small remaining collection I still have the 100% original KCPD RM (shown several times in my pictures) which has always been my favorite RM because of its historical significance plus the fact that I shoot it periodically. I also have a nice 5" NRM in the box pictured below which I haven't shot yet but plan to; and a nice 3.5" first year Pre-27, again with plans to shoot in the near future - pictured below displayed with a new prop rod I just received from Tim Shelton.
I must say that I have had ten times more enjoyment in the last 5 years of collecting, researching, and shooting the Pre-War and early Post-War .357 Magnums than I had with the previous 25 years of collecting 1st generation Colt SAA's - primarily because of the differences in the guns themselves as well as the SWCA and this Forum which are both just loaded with knowledgeable, talented, interesting, and sharing individuals.

Congratulations on having found so many wonderful revolvers! That 5 inch NRM is a beauty! I agree, that S&W accumulators have a special passion for the brand, and an amazing willingness to share.
I know how you feel about the collection, I am fortunate enough to have grandkids who appreciate fine revolvers and who will be getting mine.

I'm curious about that walnut clock with belt buckle. Is it a custom item or was that a S&W provided item? That is a striking addition to the display. The S&W belt buckles are their own branch of collectible, but with my abundant abdomen it's hard for me to display one effectively!

Grandson made the clock in shop class 10 years ago and I just cut a little slit in the base to prop up the "The Hostiles" S&W Model 600 brass belt buckle. I have only had to replace the AA size battery in the clock twice in those 10 years!

I've got a Winchester shelf clock they sold many years ago as an advertising aid. It's got the Winchester logo across the face and a natural oak box case and it's nice for what it is, but that clock of yours showing off the S&W buckle just made a big impression on me. That's definitely classy.
Just FWIW, I've added a picture of my clock just so my rambling makes sense.
