Hand in there. I had a 40 caliber M&P I had to send back to Smith 4 times before they fixed it. They finally did though.

I specifically ordered both of mine by model #. @ my LGS. Both came and operate perfectly. Did contact S&W twice, they sent a free mag once and a free pinky rest the second time.
It might take that long. I e mailed CS about ordering a pinky extension for my 40C & got a response the same day. He told me they'd ship it right away free of charge. It took about a month before a pack of two arrived. Hang in there. After the this holiday week is over they'll have a backlog.

The feed ramp on my new Shield 9mm was a little "wavy". I took it to the range, put 400 rounds thru it with no problems.
As you can see, this seems to be an "issue" but not many have had feeding issues.

when I bought my FS40 not long ago the sales clerk "made" me inspect it before he put it back in the box..this is the 1st time this has happened to me but taught me a lesson on buying guns...there is a 7 to 10 day waiting period here if you don't have a ccw and he said he didn't want me to be disappointed and angry later on....I thanked him...

Model 59...one of the nicest shooting pistols that I have ever shot. Mine had a great trigger...match smooth right out of the box, and it was only $275 at Montgomery Wards...back in the 70's. An aluminum frame, black beauty. I'm sorry that I sold it. I was in the habit of selling one to get one...as my interests changed. Now, I just buy another, if I'm in the market for one. And, right now, I'm not.
Great gun, if anyone is intersted.

I've had extended wait times in dealing with them too, but on the other hand, the people that I've dealt with have been outstanding. S&W is in the midst of sorting out their new computer system, while trying to service their vendors and process customer service issues. Give them a chance...you won't be sorry. They have always done right by me. And, I stand behind them.
I've purchased 6 Smith and Wesson's over the years (4 in the past 2 years) and still own and love them all. I've never had an issue with Smith and Wesson. Consider that the employees are what makes a company. It was an employee, a human being that most likely chipped it or did not catch a machine problem in QA. All companies have bad or below average employees. See how Smith takes care of your problem, if they don't, there are many other manufacturers that would love to have your business.

Purchased my Shield9 Oct 2013....shot over 1000 rds....had 2-3 failures to fire...(hard primers, Aguila ammo, my Glock ate them up!!)...I have no complaints...I would trust my life with my Shield9...I am very fond of the M&P line and Glocks...just my unbiased opinion...I own both...please don't call me a Glock fanboy...I just think both have their good points and bad....

I don't understand why it takes so long to get people a shipping label either. When I sent my 40 Shield back they sent it email before I got off the phone with them. I made sure I had it before hanging up the phone.

Unless S&W has a call center in India, you may want to cut them a little slack. In case you missed it, they are getting hammered by a fairly impressive winter storm. They may very well be closed today or at best, be very short handed.
At this point I'd give them 'til Tuesday to thaw out and recover from the holidays and a couple feet of snow.
FYI, I looked closely at the feed ramp on my 9mm Shield. It's as polished as a small town politician and is flat as my prom date!
Good luck with your dilemma. Hang in there, Smith WILL make it right. Just might take a while.

In October I purchased a M&P Sport through an on line retailer. The retailer has a clear policy that I could inspect the gun at my FFL and return the gun if there was any defect as long as I didn't "accept" the gun. The retailer would pay return shipping. I don't know how, but I missed a big scuff in the Melonite finish on the barrel and accepted the gun. My error for not taking the time to properly inspect.
So, I emailed S&W CS about a warranty claim. I received an auto response within an hour stating they had a high volume of emails and I would receive a response in 5 business days. CS was true to that promise. In 4 business days CS offered to send a prepaid shipping label. Once I responded to please send the label, I had a FedEx label in two business days. I sent the Sport in packaged according S&W's instructions via FedEx. You have to declare you are shipping a firearm to the manufacturer. FedEx gave me a tracking number and I tracked the Sport to FedEx.
About 3 weeks later I received an email from CS with the tracking number for the return shipment. I had FedEx hold the Sport at their local office instead of trying to catch the delivery driver. FedEx ( and S&W I presume) require an adult signature for delivery. I had no problems with CS or FedEx. Everyone was great. Ultimately I could have saved myself a lot of hassle if I had taken the time to properly inspect the gun. S&W replaced the entire upper and it actually fits better than the original scuffed upper. I finally shot it and it functions 100% and is one of the more accurate ARs I've shot.
At the same time my Sport was at S&W, I sent in the 686-1 I've had for 25 years for the firing pin bushing recall. S&W is still honoring the recall after 23 years. The turn around was quicker- 10 days from the day I shipped until my 686-1 was back. The Sport took 4 weeks overall. Work on the 686-1 was superb, plus they even tuned it a bit.
I've had S&Ws for 25 years and this was my first contact with CS. No complaints here.

emailed them on the 3rd and got a response on the 6th. i asked about the status, and when I might get a return label, they said I would receive one within 3 business days. today is the 11th and still nothing. im going to call them first thing Monday morning. im usually very polite when I call customer service, since I work in customer service myself, however iv just about lost my patience, and I plan on making it very clear how VERY upset I am.
