Heya Folks,

I got my CPL a few months back, and at the time when asked about any tattoos or scars, I only had one distinguishing scar (a doozy at that!)

Well, on friday, I finally was able to get the Tattoo I'ved wanted for years. Do I need to go and update the information stating I now have a Tattoo?

Thanks Folks!

If it concerns you, check state law for a definitive answer.

If it were me, I wouldn't worry about it and do nothing until the next renewal.

My PD renewed my license with "old info" on hair color (went from brown to gray, and later to bald) a few times by merely filling in what was in their system previously even when I filled out the form correctly. I did nothing but chuckle.

As a Constable I served papers last week on a woman where I had to provide a description when I got to hair color she replied "bottled". Funny but truthful. Think of it, if you were a woman you'd be having them change your CPL every few months as you experiment with different hair color! :D

Unless the Tattoo obviously alters you appearance drastically like a Budweiser logo on your forehead or all over your face then no, what they are most concerned about in the case of licensed gun owners is where they are living, so unless you have changed where you live then it is not really that important!

I've never heard of police keeping records of tattoos , unless you get arrested.

I got pulled over in NJ on my motorcycle (I live in PA) and they were sure I was a member of an MC. They even made me take my shirt off and photographed the tatts I do have.

Reason they pulled my over?

"You fit the profile of a MC gang member!" State troopers exact words.

Thanks for the info folks! I think I will just leave it, as its visible, but only if I have an A-shirt or short short sleeve t shirt.

Pull your pants up then! ;)

And on a serious note... When filling out WA states CPL permit application, it specifically asks about any scars or tattoos that can be used to identify you.

Deal with it at renewal. I did, since I'd gotten a couple more after the last renewal. That goes with the fingerprint card info and is part of the confirmatory info used in NCIC. Mine are pretty unique; two refer to being a lawyer, one is a crudity common in military/LE circles suggesting that one needs to overcome their shortcomings (one word on each tricep in military block writing, down the length of the arm covering about 8" on each).

Darn , with more scars than tatts , I'd be getting writers cramp!

And my pants rode where they were supposed to back then. I actually had hips!
Now , the beer belly kinda pushes them down!

It was the tatts , long hair , beard , chopper and PA lic plate that got me 'profiled'.

And you did this? If it had been me, I'd have told them in no uncertain terms where to pack sand. "That's pretty funny, Officer. You fit the profile of an A-Hole I know."

This had 4A violations written all over it.
