I bought a 40 S&W Sigma when they first came out a number of years ago. Soon after at the range, the pistol went click with no bang - repeatedly. I took it to the shop where I bought it and the smith there was surprised to discover that the firing pin was investment cast, not made from a solid piece of steel. The pistol was repaired by Smith and Wesson under warranty, and when I got it back I traded it in at the same shop for a Glock 19, which I still have. I liked the feel of the Sigma and would consider getting another in 9mm, but I am still concerned about the firing pin durability. 7mm M

Not sure what the firing pins are made of, but your the first I've read of that had a firing pin failure.. As far as I know they're very resiliant and I wouldnt hesitate to buy another sigma for SD purposes!!
