A plain-Jane dead stock '73 vintage Colt SP-1 with nothing added except for the M1907 sling.



I've had this rifle since the 1980s. Originally acquired it mostly as a representative specimen to fill a spot in assembling a progressive collection of U. S. military cartridge arms. Is shot infrequently for fun. Has been used in the past to train our two sons and other junior shooters in position shooting for high-power competition. Years ago Mrs. BMc shot it a bit in local high-power matches and I even played with it a match or two. This would have been before the AR 15 became a general presence on firing lines at high-power matches.

These days it's mostly kept around because it might make anti-gunners' heads explode. Truth be told, I'm not really all that enamored with all things AR 15.

Here's a couple neat ones I've picked up in the last few months. AR-15 prices are down, so I've been picking up values.....

A lightweight 16" A-1 carbine, slick side, no forward assist or shell deflector. Fits nicely in a nylon electric guitar case:

A recent build, pawn shop value priced at $500. Anderson lower, 20" Delton barrel, unknown A-1 upper:

The steel rabbit has been getting some love from the 20" A-1 from 160 yards, prone position of course.

I guess I don't technically have a "black rifle", (yep, I looked it up.)

I have developed a taste for delayed roller locks, which started from my interest in the Mauser Brothers and continued on.

All have wood stocks, A-2's, and Choate folders for them, plus wide and narrow forends. The Laser Devices cocking tube laser is currently in the 33, (now 93,) but I got it for the MP-5.

I have a lifetime of factory new parts, including trigger packs that I bought for pennies on the dollar. All have too many magazines of various capacities.

Thanks to Jeff Walters, Parabellm Combat Systems for great rebuilds on excellent de-mill's.

It's not my only EBR, but it is my favorite. I don't shoot it much, but when I do, it's a blast. I keep it tucked away in case of SHTF. I also have an Argentine FAL. No photos of it currently, though.
