I upload my pics from "My Pictures" folder on my computer using the advanced/attach files option on this forum. No sweat, easy peasy.
Yes, but then there is a SIZE limit, using a 3rd party (like someone has done here)
they post really large picturesand screw up the thread when others try to post.
The file size should be reduced. There is no need to post a gazillion pixel sized photo.

Well, I'm still using Photobucket, but it comes free with my AOL subscription. Now, you might ask why I'm still using AOL. That's because my wife remembers how to use AOL and is afraid she'll have a hard time learning a new system (she's probably right about that since her brain injury).
I wouldn't be surprised to wake up one morning and find that Photobucket and AOL have parted ways, although there probably aren't enough people still using AOL to matter much.

Okay, here is my summary again:
Disadvantages of directly attaching photos:
1. You have to waste calories clicking on the thumbnail.
2. You are limited to five pictures per post.
3. If you are using an old or cheap device, it may not automatically reformat photos and some of your photos may be too large.
4. The forum doesn’t like upright cellphone photos and tips them on their side.
Advantages:
1. Your pictures are here to stay and are available to people researching old posts no matter what happens to your host site or to you.
2. The photos are not embedded in the text of your post, which makes reading much easier.
3. The pictures are much easier to view enlarged, without dealing with pop-ups and other garbage thrown at the viewer by hosting sites. This gets really bad on mobile devices.
4. The pictures don’t embed in “reply with quote”, so you do not get these extremely annoying threads where you scroll through the same three feet of photos again and again just to find a “Nice Photos!” or some other irrelevance as the only original addition.
My biggest thing is the problem of the disappearing photos. I do quite a bit of research on the forum, and it is extremely annoying to find the photos in older posts all gone. It was bad even before the Photobucket disaster.
So just attach. It’s got a few limitations, but think of future generations

Yes, but others don't they like those giant 8 x10 color glossy photos in super HD detail!

I am still using Photobucket but I have always copy&pasted my links from them and have no problems.

you know, sometimes when i wanna post a pic i click GO ADVANCED.
sometimes. i get a little window with symbols. i can then click PAPERCLIP n post a pic.
other times, go advanced takes me to 2 big windows with no symbols at all.

Hey susz, going to quote or advanced on a thread with big pictures posted sticks you on a monster sized page. Look for that little bar at the bottom of the screen to slide the window side to side.
